Airlink flight forced to turn back

Systems often fail on aircraft even with the best airline. Despite knowing that they would probably be made a big thing out of the media for turning back, they still did the right thing and turned back. Avoiding the ice conditions and therefore safely returning.

Why not?
They seem to find problems and do the right thing.
Would you prefer they did nothing and kept quiet?

id prefer they closed their doors.
When u have a single incident, its just that, an incident and thats just fine.
when u have more than one in a matter of months, thats called negligence.

Airlink and Roadlink... your passport to the other side! :D

"The turn back related to intense weather systems and the expectation of encountering severe icing en-route to Antananarivo, and was in the interests of safety."

Why the media sensationalism? There was no incident. An incident was avoided. Well done to the Airlink crew.

there have just been too many incidents!

sooner or later an incident is going to become a serious accident.

The Civil Aviation authority grounded their entire fleet for inspection.

If you don't see all of that as a warning sign, then you are welcome to fly with them. :D

All airlines have some sort of trouble. On Monday, the 1Time red eye flight (6:15) from CT to Jhb had issues. The flight took off and the landing gear jammed in it's take off/landing position. They had to land again and wait until 11:00 for another flight.

Airlink is in the spotlight because of their recent crashes. The press will naturally pick up on every technical problems.

... the replacement aircraft encountered a flap problem while on the ground and due to the indefinite delay the flight was cancelled.

One incident?

The original flight has a problem and turns back, and then the replacement plane ALSO has an issue?

Or am I missing something here?

I have flown loads of time with SAA and Airlink and look a few problems can be sorted. Just to add that in all the incidents that have happened with airlink all the passenger and crew survived.Except the first incident where the pilot died a week later, the other crew survived including the sweeper who was knocked by the plane's wheel. But what about the Air France incident which killed 250+ people, so sit down and think carefully about this and let's see what the thoughts are from you.
