anyone loaded this up yet?

http://www.gamespot.com/alan-wake/

just fired it up and its pretty darn good! :)

seems fairly demanding at 1920x1200 with everything on high (4x AA and FXAA on)

Got vsync on but FPS hovers around 55 the whole time.

really good game so far, enjoying the light mechanic as your aim!

I'll be getting it soon that's for sure

I really don't think its demanding, its more of a bad port. No console game will be demanding on a half decent PC.

then it must be a bad port... coz its more demanding that skyrim!

and I run skyrim everything max, 16xAF, 4xAA and FXAA

vsync on, and sit on 60fps solid regardless of the area.

Graphics are way better than on the former exclusive platform

-Textures are so brilliantly better!: Achieved with an higher screen resolution and better base textures plus thanks for anisotropic filtering @ 16x who keeps all the distant textures sharp and appealing (which was hugely lacking on the non-PC version)
-Shadows are sharper and prettier than ever (Indubitably one of the most impressive usage of lightnings and shadows in the videogame history. Including extensive use of HDR&Defered rendering, which leads to impressive dynamic textures illumination)
-Many graphic options to choose from, including FoV slider (+ instant application of the settings changes, with no 'program hangs' or reboot needed)
-Implementation of 2 different approaches but simultaneous and customizable in-game Anti-Aliasing: --> MSAA plus FXAA is genius!! (Thanks! Polygons and transparent textures, such foliage, grass, tree leaves and fence grills are very effectively anti-aliased)
-The water quality (waves and ripples) and reflections are immensely improved

-The sound is also clearer (better X-fi sound card maybe)
-even the cut-scenes are better rendered

-Instant loading between levels and checkpoint reload (about 1 second)

-Alt-F4 and Alt-Tab are working

-Good performance (for me), 60 fps with EVERYTHING on maximum available-> 1920x1080

-Crossfire does WORK (2 x Radeon 6970)

-We can play with the keyboard&mouse + controller all together at the SAME TIME!

-The rendering engine and the game itself is very stable and free of major bugs (no one should/has to wait for something to be sorted out before grabbing it for himself)

Conclusion: Definitely no "console port" here!
PC version it is !

(2xRadeon 6970 and PhenomII @ 3750 Mhz)

bad console port my arse. pays to read up a bit....

So its a bad port then lol.

Oftentimes the PC port of a popular console game is basically a shoddy console port with bad controls, poor UI support and a lot of technical glitches that takes away from the overall play experience. Well, Remedy Entertainment, creators and developers of games like Max Payne 1 and 2 as well as Alan Wake, revealed in a recent interview that the port of Alan Wake on PC is no cheap cash-in and that the reason it took so long to port was because they were aiming to make it a legitimate experience for PC gamers

Well that's good news for PC games, with Alan Wake currently being available and all for purchase. A few things that Remedy took the time to add (or upgrade, rather) were the graphics, texture fidelity, visual effects and some of the play mechanics and UI. It's nice that they took such things into consideration, giving paying customers a reason to feel proud to own a specific port of the game.

Well, it's nice to know that Alan Wake on PC wasn't a cheap cash-in. It says a lot about the integrity of Remedy Entertainment. It's too bad we can say the same about a lot of other big studios out there.

dude cant you read?

Finished Episode 1, it's good. Feels a lot like the old Alone in the Dark series.
