Hey Guys

Recently got a quote for an alarm system 8 zones and 2 external beams. Cost at R17k seems very high. Anyone else get a quote for a 3-4 bedroom house recently?

Thanks

I went through this just over a year ago.

My alarm was old and faulty.

1st 5 guys I had out I asked them to get my old (but good) system working.

Not one submitted a quote.

Then I got 3 more out and said they can repair or replace.

Got 3 quotes, they varied from R32k to R40k.

Then I called EC Security and said I'd sign up with them but I need my alarm fixed.

They quoted R14k and I did it.

R17k is nothing for an alarm system these days.

But get more quotes....

That's not bad, considering alarmtec.co.za with a quick shopping on a Texecom 412, LCD keypad, 4 x PIR's and 2x outdoors + software cable comes to around R10k

So they would still need to wire it up etc which is labor. Unless its a wireless system which its not because that would be pushing R40k lol.

Get 3 quotes, compare them. Also, if you don't mind a contract for 3 years ADT and others offer a "free" base alarm install and you pay for the extras but then you have to commit to a contract with them.

The people who owned this house before me were quite paranoid, they spent at least R130k with ADT - i've tried to work it out by adding up the parts on sites I can buy from...
