Alcohol and nicotine.

I unfortunately had to many things planned this week, a mate down from the uk, varsity holiday, family still down etc...

But as of Monday:
No more alcohol ( I don't drink much to be honest, so that easy)
Starting my meal replacement again( I rarely eat breakfast so my metabolism has a pretty slow start)
Cutting down on the sweets/sugar(I generally eat a lot of sweets while studying but i carried this through the holidays)
Low GI brown bread only, and more protein.

*EFF man, i just weighed myself 80KG on the DOT.... I really didnt want to hit that digit this holidays i like to hover in the high 70's, but yea i need to get myself down to 70!

Good luck on your trip, you're not alone for the most part!

Cheers! Thanks. Good luck yourself.

Wheat, sugar and alcohol are the primary causes for the weight gain. Sounds like you like to party too much. Good luck in cutting those down and getting up off your ass and doing some exercise ;)

And MyBroadband Forum... :D

GL copa!

Copa I'm joining the no alcohol + diet program tomorrow as I'm sure many are.

I need to lose 10: from 100 to 90. At 90 I feel pretty good about myself. Per the bmi (which is not a great measure) I should be 85 but I'm kinda big boned so 90 suits me better.

I've done this a few times and it's actually easy albeit a bit of an adjustment. I lose 10 in 6 weeks.

My system:

1. No alcohol
2. No sugar
3. No more than 3000 kJ per day
4. 2-4 hours hike once a week

Yeah, pretty much the same for me, except I'm also cutting out wheat, to see whether I have an allergy to it, which many do apparently, and it makes you shed weight big time by not eating it.

I'd love to hike but there isn't really anywhere around here to do that, so I'm just trying to get in at least some form of exercise a day.

When I weighed myself a couple of days ago, I was 92, now am at @ 90, obviously weight fluctuates depending what you've eaten and whatnot, but it does seem the weight loss has already started, which is kickass.

I must get rid of my boep. I'd love to be able to gaze at my penis in the shower again. :p

You lose the most in the first 3-4 days if you've been drinking daily. Seems we store a lot of the energy & water in a temporary form while drinking and this comes rushing out in the first few days. In my case it settles in to around 200g a day loss after the first week.

Ps: I'm going for lunch now (incl wine) .... Tomorrow is tomorrow ;)

A tip: always weigh yourself at the same point in the day. I do it after breakfast (same quantity ever day) and coffee and after, erm, my morning routine.

Edit: get a digital scale, they are accurate to 200g. Those mechanical scales are crap.

I noticed the other day that I seem to have gained around 2 kg weight over the past few weeks. There was a thread some time back about the health benefits of eating nuts so these last few weeks I've been eating quite a bit of nuts. This was the only part of my diet which changed so I think this is the reason why I gained weight. Nuts are about half fat. So I will reduce my intake of nuts and hopefully my weight will drop.

Check the kJ's on the back of the packet. A smallish bag is the equavalent of a dinner. Very high kJ's.

Another tip to increase and encourage weight loss is to drink more water. Have a bottle of water with you, when water is within easy reach we are more likely to drink that, than walk to the fridge for a cooldrink or the kettle for coffee/tea.

Decrease your natural laziness, increase your activity level slightly.
Non sporty and non-active people:
Work or dance to music : have fun and clean your place and lose weight by dancing for a minutes every day :)
wash/polish your car, do activities that benefit your weight loss

I weigh 58kg, I prefer to weigh around 62Kg, then my butt does not hurt on hard surfaces from lack of cushioning !
I am considering getting a medical cushion for extra comfort lol (the ring design)

Avoiding 'brood en kaas' is a major help for weight loss.

You're of course not currently the ideal candidate for weight loss advice :p

I've gone the other way...

I weighed 113kg a year ago, i then started 'regularly' using weed, and last year, I've went from 113kg's down to 95kg's... so blaming the cannabis is just a crutch ;)

Weed is good... mmmkay?

I'm not blaming cannabis for my weight gain, are you high?

The lack of cannabis is so I can get a well-oiled mind, as per the OP.

And before I get into an argument about the virtues of cannabis, all I'm saying is that I don't like what it does to my brain, personally.
