Does anyone know where I can get or if at all possible replace the panel on an Alienware 25" 240hz monitor? Long story short, my screen started acting up, at first it made a blue vertical line on one side of the screen, then after 2 weeks or so, the line turned into a spot of dead pixels, the size of a coke cap. According to Dell and the retailer I bought from, it is physical damage. So they refuse to replace under warranty (2 years remaining, monitor was invoiced on the 25/01/2019).

I want to know if it's worth trying to fix on my own, or if I should just use for the time being and then buy a new monitor?

I highly doubt that it will be feasible.
Better off purchasing a new monitor.

It's not insured?

Unfortunately not. Times like these you wish you had something like that in place, I just never went through the effort to find out who would be best to insure PC and setup.

Sound like crappy panel, dell should replace it.

Retailer was probably evetech I guess lol

That was my argument as well, but according to the extremely helpful support from Evetech (yes, it's these people), I put too much pressure on the panel (whilst sitting completely still, enjoying a blissful game of Dota) and managed to damage it.

Did you call dell directly? they should run tests to confirm that.

I am busy with this, just had to go source the number which Evetech provided, couldn't find contact details on their website without you having to enter a service tag or such.

Just an update on this, spent a good 30minutes on the phone with Dell, after running around getting service tag, serial number and invoice, they've arranged for a new monitor to be delivered and the old one to be collected.

Seems too good to be true, no hassles? Is this normal?

Looking for a good IPS/VA, but preferably IPS 27", 1440p and at least 144hz. Budget range... not like I want to pay 10k or more, anything in 5-8k range?

it is normal...defective items happen from time to time. Dell know that but Evetech prefer to screw over customers even when the cost to them is minimal.

I was looking at the following, if I had to get a new monitor:

That's the thing. I used to be in the same department, handling warranty issues with suppliers, so I know how the boat floats. But because I know for a fact I wasn't at fault, I didn't leave it at "warranty void, physical damage". Hence the phone call with Dell this morning to try and get it resolved, which it seems to be now.

Yes that normal good service from dell.

As normal as the rubbish service you received from evetech.

Yup, Dell are top notch with warranty support.

Last update - new monitor was delivered from Dell this morning. Their service has been top notch, all this through a 30min call. Whereas Evetech was a week of emails back and forth with no resolution.
