Alienware laptop, do you own one?

Yo man, I have a work colleague who has one, but unfortunately he is tstill on leave...think he has the m14x not sure tho.

All i can say is, it is awesome for gaming, he is a big COD MW3 addict and he runs the game at full with Antiliasing.

IF you are looking for a mobile gaming pc then Alienware is the route to go.

I will try to get more info from him should no one reply :P

He had a problem where his laptop would lock up and freeze but after a bios update that was resolved, no more issues.

If money isnt an issue go Alienware, otherwise HP and all other makes make reasonably good Gaming Laptops too without the funky LEDs and colours and eye candy of an Alienware.

Don't own one, but was seriously considering buying one until I saw the prices they sell at Incredible Corruption. The ones by incredibles are also non-customizable. If I ever go overseas tho, then I'll def purchase one. If you want, go to incredibles and play around with it.

have a look at www.alienware.com

i have the 15x and personally i am not that impressed with it = lots of bells and whistles
i think i'd rather take and ASUS gaming laptop over the alienware
its a nice piece of hardware but for the price i expected better performance and
the trackpad is so irratating to use keyboard quality is shoddy as my enter key has already started to fall out
after 6 months of use. HDD has crashed already 3 times bad sectors thou i don't blame the laptop for that
overall for the money i'm not impressed rather go asus. or 17x as you can setup redudancy into it
but then the 17x would be to heavy to support the purpose.

I've got the m17x. Very good laptop but the mobile graphics card models are misleading for eg. this model came with a AMD 6870m card but it is nowhere near the desktop version of the same make. I'm waiting till I get enough cash then I'm going to import a 6990m which will be nearly the equivalent of the desktop 6870 version.

Another nuisance is the fact that amd don't directly support the mobile cards, so gettings the latest drivers is a pain in the @ss.

Take a look at the Lenovo Ideapad Y580 - I picked one up with a 1080p screen, GTX660M, i7 3930, and JBL speakers, and a backlit keyboard, all in 15.6 inches of displacement, for under 11k

Added an SSD ( took the optical drive out ) and upped it to 16GB of RAM, and it flies.

Battery life while gaming is 2-3 hours, and desktop use ( turns the 660m off, using the integrated intel card ) lasts 5+ hours.

This sounds very promising, but can you please elaborate more on the gaming side of this laptop if it's not that much to ask for?
