Alienware range and pricing in SA revealed

very nice customization, specs also match components. You can obviously do all this yourself for a lot less but it does require fare level of pc knowledge and time.

I didn't realize it'd be this cheap. Definitely considering.

If the Alienware US website is anything to go by, they will not be cheap. The prices mentioned for the notebooks looks like entry level machines with "Intel® Core™2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz (3MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB)" GTX 260M Graphics card, 250gb hdd and so on.

Playing around with the configurator, it easily goes over $5000!!!!

hmm so when is this all happening? I wonder if I should sell my laptop and get me one of those M15x...mmmm :)

if you feel bad about the pricing... just go over to the apple website ;-) ... these are DEFINITELY more value for money.

as for the re-sale value.. i usually keep my PC/laptop till it's no longer of use and give it away when i next upgrade. trying to re-sell a PC that's more than 2 yrs old is simply not worth it.

sorry for the double post....

i've just checked the pricing on the laptops and i am very impressed that for once in SA we're not getting our @sses ripped to shreds... very good pricing, VERY worth it

Will give that a miss!

That pricing is enough to give anyone a heart attack!

The pricing very reasonable actually. The M15x at R11 500 actually retails for $1 499 overseas and the Aurora desktop at R9 500 retails for $1 299, so it's even less than the general 'multiply by 10' rule. Well done Pinnacle Micro :)

Yes they are built to order imports from Dell USA BUT Don't hold your breath on this one.

I ordered a well spec'ed M17X from these guys about 6 weeks ago after being assured delivery is around 15 working days. Guess what Dell (who appear to be bloody useless) still hasn't even build the unit, last I heard they were out of stock of key components!

I am now cancelling because they have launched I7 processors for them and by the time my machine gets here it will be expensive and obsolete!

Bought a few of my XPS1330's, with all the top specs, Dell managed to get delivered in under a week....

Yeah, I'll be sure to rush out & buy something just coz it looks pwitty. My chassis looks like crap - my GTX285, 4GB RAM, Intel Quad & Mobo do the job just fine. Squander your hard-earned cash on a name, a look - be my guest. Just don't come squealing when I sit with an extra GPU in my system & whole lot of other stuff for the same price ;)

if you look at the specs you'll realise that this is not an apple mac kinda rip-off... you can actually justify the price.

look at the notebooks... very reasonable for what your getting. the one going for 11.5k rapes the macook (which is R500 more expensive) and is far superior to the Sony Vaio of about the same price...

Edit:

besides, paying a couple of extra bucks for a nice looking tower with water cooling setup properly is totally worth it for me... not to mention the fact that if anything goes wron i just take the entire tower back instead of having to run diagnostics to see which part is broken...

+1

i still think you can build your own system for less than they sell it for.

I want an alienware case!!!! I don't suppose they'll sell them separately though.....
