Seconded on the MyBroadband speedtest. We've requested this before, and even offered to assist with configurations, but to little response. It's a simple task to achieve, and NAP Africa has IPv6 allocations to assist in getting this working.Hi
Please share the list you found - local servers supporting IPv6.
Our Speedtest.net server supports IPv6, but it defaults to using IPv4 it seems. Were you able to do a local IPv6 speedtest.net test?
Ookla (Speedtest co) can probably do a much better job of making their websites and apps use IPv6 testing, and informing the end user the test is running over IPv6, or giving them the option to enable this.
In general, people who use Speedtest.net probably just want to do a quick line speed check, so IPv6 is not important to them.
We generally suggest using: https://ipv6-test.com/ - much more helpful with details of IPv6 connection.
A better place to campaign for IPv6 would probably be the MyBroadband speedtest.co.za servers - or at least collecting basic info on % of people using the service that have IPv6 enabled, and maybe displaying an IPv6 testing option.
Currently no AAAA record for speedtest.co.za
Check for the use IPv6 option in your Ooklaserver.properties file, and make sure it's enabled. As far as I remember, it's not enabled by default. Our Speedtest.net server supports IPv6, but it defaults to using IPv4 it seems. Were you able to do a local IPv6 speedtest.net test?
Hi, it's enabled, but from a desktop web browser with IPv6 enabled, it seems to still default to IPv4 testing.Check for the use IPv6 option in your Ooklaserver.properties file
As @websquad mentioned before, you need to update your configuration file to allow IPV6 (see my screenshot above)Hi

@Jan any chance to get MyBroadband speedtest.co.za setup with ipv6?In general, people who use Speedtest.net probably just want to do a quick line speed check, so IPv6 is not important to them.

I like your style. Note that currently your CPT server is just hanging. Only DBN server working.Seconded on the MyBroadband speedtest. Our Ookla/HTML5/WiFiMan speedtest servers (currently DBN and CPT are online) are IPv6 enabled, and feature a native HTML5 interface that supports IPv6 (https://speedtest.cpt.websquad.co.za / https://speedtest.dbn.websquad.co.za). JHB is currently down due to performance issues. Ookla tests from v6 clients also run on v6.
Check for the use IPv6 option in your Ooklaserver.properties file, and make sure it's enabled. As far as I remember, it's not enabled by default.
Definitely would help to give speedtest.net users more visibility and even the option to select between v6 and v4.Hi, it's enabled, but from a desktop web browser with IPv6 enabled, it seems to still default to IPv4 testing.
No obvious settings on the end-user side to choose IPv6 testing.
We mostly suggest customers just use speedtest.co.za. The people interested in IPv6 usually know how to run iPerf3 tests.
Our IPv6 guide is here: https://www.atomicaccess.co.za/docs/ipv6/ - collection of notes from helping customers enable IPv6.
Thanks for the heads up. Can you reach CPT's https page? PM me a trace if you can't?I like your style. Note that currently your CPT server is just hanging. Only DBN server working.

speed.cloudflare.com reports nearly double my speed for some reason.I made a short list of other services with local servers, that support ipv6. I quite like speedsmart and cloudflare. Measurement lab is also good (integrated with google search)
speedsmart.net
fast.com
speed.measurementlab.net
speed.cloudflare.com
HiWhat benefit does ipv6 give over ipv4 on a Speedtest?
Like the IPV4 test, it just confirms your connectivity is OK end to end and that you are getting the IPV6 speed that you pay for. You don't need the one or the other, you need both. What benefit does ipv6 give over ipv4 on a Speedtest?
I always get 17/20 on that site. What do the rest of you get?We generally suggest using: https://ipv6-test.com/ - much more helpful with details of IPv6 connection.

The same, not to worry, it's working
Hi
20/20
Fairly easy to allow ICMPv6. Setting a reverse DNS record is a bit more interesting. DNS servers would probably need to support wildcard DNS.
