Open it up and look inside for the amount of wires and whether you have neutrals.

They are generally small and you can fit two in a lightbox. But I would also recommend that you optimize the wiring - consider using these instead of the big old connector blocks:

I know I can fit a Shelly One. Original LED dimmer just went, and I already wanted to order two Shelly dimmers for another room.

Two Shelly devices can fit into a 100x50 mm wall box, albeit very tightly.

Wago wire connectors would be highly recommended here.

Where can I buy these connectors locally? RS-components is a place I've always avoided (for no good reason, but price is high). ACDC seems to have one variant of it, but the search on their site is painful.
Helacon here: https://www.communica.co.za/products/copy-of-helacon-hecp3-orange which is probably what I'll try to get next time I go there, but I'd like the lever types.
What about these?

Oh right, Builders, thank you. Google wasn't giving me those, but I wasn't using good search terms either.

I actually just used the ones from Builders. Some of them are actually repackaged Waco connectors.

Really do work well!

I just realised I got some of these with my temperature add-ons long ago. I never used them, the sensor wires are way too thin to make a reliable connection in this connectors, They are rated 450V and 32A. They feel a bit flimsy, but I'll push some current through them as a test. I'm not going to open up my light switches again, but whatever I need to wire up next will get these connectors.

And next time I go to Builders I'm definitely grabbing a bunch more of these.

I actually haven't seen them at my big builders around the corner, only the push in ones. I went to AC/DC and just bought 10 each of 2/3/5 way. Should last me a little bit. I think there are two different sizes, I just took the smaller one since it's adequate for pretty much everything.

I did exactly this a week or so ago and added a temperature add-on thingy, just because. I still need to do the switch sensor. My battery is 24V and I used 0.3 seconds for the auto-off timer, but glad to see the professional doing the same sort of thing :) (using the 24V from the motor supply also nicely avoids load-shedding troubles)

Neatly done,

Do consider a cable tie or two around the Shelly one and affixed to the motor strut.
Vibrations over time could loosen wires and reposition things

i really am liking the idea of the shelly1 to be a standalone device to do the garage automation, a bit rough though considering the sonoff sv is like R100 though but it just cant monitor the status of the external sensor.
