That is R800 down the drain, cause idiot me bought 2 on 1st go. (R800 = 6 x R130 Sonoff Basics cause of free shipping over R500)

Wire instructions on unit is very sparse with detail, The manual did not come with magnifying glass to actually read it, guess paper is really expensive lately. Not to mention the time to wire it vs other devices. (I get that the wire gymnastics of for safety reasons) It kinda sucks trying to get wire to stay while closing the unit (Some clips might have helped). Lets just say it was not a very pleasant experience.

The Shelly cloud takes aaaages to install and then to top it all off, I have to create a whole "home" setup just to get a button to work.

Then came the kicker, I can only switch it via app as the button itself do not keep on/off state. If I press the Shelly button the light stays on for as long as I press it, the moment I release it goes back to off state. And this on both buttons.

Nope, wired an ugly old Sonoff basic into the bed lamp. Its ugly but at least I can use a button or app.

Edit: OK so second relay is dead, doesn't even work so for R800 I got 1 working relay I can find a use for some day and a load of ****.

You can change this behavior on the shelly in the configuration page?

Still a big win for me. Sorry that it doesnt work for you.

Tried almost any combo I could try yet light either stay on with button press or if I reverse it stay off. The plastic buttons also kinda flimsy for R135 (The price of a full Sonoff). You press a little hard and it pops out of the bracket holding the switch in place forcing you to do the dissemble game just to clip it back again.

As for the second dead relay, its totally dead like in nothing happens nothing on wifi even if you power it directly without the button. Again would it kill them to have a small led somewhere on the puk to say "Hey I have power" so I dont have to jump through hoops to see if something is wrong.

Thankfully I have access to 3d printer at work so gonna print simple box with button to place the Sonoff in as the SO don't like a plain one on the bedside.

Hi @AlphaJohn,

We are really sorry that your first experience with Shelly was an unhappy one.

From your comments, the relays may be defective.

One of our reps will make contact with you.

Thanx for the response, at least that is one thing you have over competitors (Service)

Just some feedback... Shelly rep came to see me today.

It seems that someone over at Shelly stuffed up and send me units that was not meant to be shipped. Can clearly see replacement boxes looks way different from the ones I got originally. Replaced the units so I will install them on the weekend.

So sorry for my rant, at least both me and Shelly got some info out of it, and I'll add +1 to them for service.

Wow, that's effort. Does the inside mechanism look any different?

Of the 4 I got, one was squishy and now that I look closer seems to have broken. But so far I only actually used one of them, ended up using boring tiny electrical boxes for the ones that really don't need physical buttons.

There is this, so it seems like its a problem that do needs addressing.

The actually Shelly unit is fine, but I do believe the buttons need more work.

Edit When I have time, Ill actually copy it and pop a sheet full on CNC router at work to give to people that want. Thats when I have time. This covid crap has most of us working full blast as half the staff are "missing" :)

Hi @AlphaJohn

Thank you for posting the mod's, .STL file.

This printable modification is essentially a puc which would fill the 2mm internal void between the relay device, be it a shelly 1 or 1PM and the button mechanism, thus preventing the button's retaining ring from coming undone.

There are varying amounts of pressure applied from person to person after all, so for "voes" pressure it will do the trick.
Similarly, for "ordentelik" pressure should do the trick as well.

The button industrial design is one that Shelly OEM are going to keep for the IP rated and dimming button iterations. Suggestions to improvements really do help the industrial designers to make a better button.
