Since enabling solarman integration and logging the inverters reported SOC - it goes all over the show compared to solar-assistant.

It looks like it might be some sort of balancing issue - the inverter reported soc jumps between the most charged battery, and the least charged:

Was going to ask when last you top balanced the batteries?
 
They were last at 100% yesterday for 1.5hrs - wonder if it needs longer to balance?
The tough thing is no one actually tells you how long - i havent seen a balancing guide for my batteries (Dyness) - it potentially could be that but we are guessing
 
I just tried to see if I could see anything different with the included Sunksynk Dongle but it actually doesn't give you break down (as far as I can see) per battery.

My first one is 110Ah and the second one installed this year is 100Ah

Since the second was installed (it works way harder than the first one - first to drain and first to reach full charge)

Thanks to your sharing in the HA thread, and my HA now tracking this is how crazy it is

The original has never reach 30% since I started tracking it, but hubble 2 does it every more often. Still very concerned why the smaller battery is working so much harder.

Re balancing thing, I now let the batteries get to 100% from grid if they havent every two days. Definitely, while SoC may show 100%, the batteries continue to take power until the balancing is complete - sometimes up to an 30-40 minutes later.

When I get time, I am going to update the rule to mark the battery as being at 100% to include the new condition that the cell voltage is at least 53.6V for 5 minutes.

With the dongle, track your SOC - then track the solar-assistant overall SOC - and the indidividual battery SOC - see if they differ, unfortunately I don't have more history than from this morning at 8am, but - all of mine are different,

Solar-Assistant combined SOC seems to be an average across the batteries, the SOC reported from the dongle seems to fluctuate between the batteries.

I'm trying to figure out how to create a sensor that tracks the MAX difference between the two extremes of four batteries.

Going to probably do the same for V - sadly, we're in a four hour loadshedding slot, so I doubt they'll stay 100% for long.

Any reason to get the sunsynk battery cables instead of buying the connectors and installer doing the rest?
Batteries arrived, but need these bits.
 
Spoke to Installer today and he had me taking some photos of the inverter screens before and after switching on oven & hob which I then sent to him. He's sending someone over tomorrow morning as CT in wrong place seems to be the main suspect in our "excessive" continued grid usage. At least they are no ghosting me and are willing and keen to assist.

How installers are still getting the CT installed incorrectly is beyond me. It's not rocket science.

I knew nothing of solar at the time I installed my system and even I had to explain to the installer the purpose of the CT and where to install it.

Exactly this. It simply shows they have absolutely zero understanding of how the inverter works. The number of inverters I've seen with CT coils connected within the inverter is astounding.

its quite scary innit... then you see some of the other settings and you realise it IS rocket science for some

I think the first question to ask any installer of a hybrid inverter is where are they are planning to install the current transformer.

If they even know what it is.
 
Was my concern as well, but I can't find any such thing in the warranty docs.

My neighbour’s year old SHOTO battery has died and is now at the supplier awaiting repairs. Assuming it’s returned in working order, he wants to urgently buy a 2nd battery to get the Axpert inverter up & running again.
Must he buy another SHOTO or can he go the Hubble/ other battery brand route at this late stage? (See his equipment mix attached)

You can't mix between manufacturers, different BMS. Most manufacturers don't even allow for different sizes, Pylontech is the only one I'm aware of...

If his Axpert has comms with the Shoto, then get another Shoto. Otherwise he can get anything that is the same chemistry and capacity (so not Hubble AM-2 which is NMC) and put them both on a busbar.
 
Quick one

It looks like my one battery seems to doing more cycles than the other. Is this normal? It seems to increase about ~2 cycles a month.

Probably nothing to worry about, but it means after 12 months, one battery will have 24 cycles more than the other.
