Well least you not taking your inverter off the wall, I skipped a beat the other day when my solar wouldn’t kick in.

It looks like my one battery seems to doing more cycles than the other. Is this normal? It seems to increase about ~2 cycles a month.

Probably nothing to worry about, but it means after 12 months, one battery will have 24 cycles more than the other.

Where did you get this info? Solar assistant talking to the Hubble directly? (I haven't shelled out for Solar Assistant yet.)
My Deye doesn't seem to talk Hubble properly - it can tell me the battery percentage but nothing else.

This is solar assistant, yes, with a cable plugged into the master battery.

I'm not sure if anyone noticed, or whether this issue has come up. I pulled the warranty info from Hubble's website, and it says there
22. It is forbidden to connect any 3rd party devices to the service ports, which is the RS232 and RS485 ports. These ports are reserved for workshop maintenance only and is for programming the BMS. Connecting any 3rd party devices to the RS232 or RS485 ports will void the warranty.
I went to have a look on Solar Assistant's website but they don't have any comment on this and the "contact-us" link is just broken.

Has anyone come across this issue before?

There are many worrying aspects to the Hubble warranty. One of the reasons I've given them a wide birth
 
Yeah finally, literally just this second. Found a bloody weird fix in case this happens to anyone when their battery runs flat.

You have to change the battery mode to voltage on this screen then apply.

When everything comes back up normally, you can switch back to Lithium.

Edit: switching back to Lithium caused it to happen again. Leaving it in voltage mode for now until Eskom power returns. I think something weird happens to the BMS when it runs flat in Lithium mode...
That is weird. BMS miscalculations no doubt. Which battery again?

I know, and I wont be using hubble batteries in the future. I had a choice, wait another month or install these and be done with it.

This was during peak stage 6 when I already waited months for my house to register due to issues so I was gat vol at that point.

The bigger issue is the AM2 chemistry and the fact if you discharge it more than 50% it only does 3000 cycles.

Yup. Definitely not something I have recommended to anyone else. Always Pylontech first.
 
It's currently on 49.9V, don't want to switch back to Lithium just yet and poke the bear. "Activate battery" did nothing.

It could be a Dyness BMS thing. I recall @SauRoNZA mentioning he had to do something similar to get everything to come back up...
What's the soc for your 49.9? Although they call it a 48V on my hubble 100% is really 53.73V anything less than that is not saturated or the bms struggle. So 49.9 is around 85% for me. 50% is 47.67V on mine.
 
And the Hubble seem to HAVE to be balanced/maxed at least every 7 days. SOC/V drifts always.

Seting inverter to voltage mode for battery likely works at that uses the voltage levels vs the perceived %.

Yeah but then the inverter is managing it and not the BMS so you may run into some warranty issues.

My understanding is the batteries own bms will still kick in but only if you hit that threshold. So if you only charge to even just 53V , sure the inverter may balance but it's not at the recommended spec.

Mines a rental so it's the providers problem if it dies one day but if I had to own, I'd look at others. The Hubble do perform, thier charge and discharge rates are fine, even to the max of the inverter but this SOC drift is stupid.

Only way I got around it is a forced window of max charge in a day so even if solar is low, they balance although with stage six this is not every day, more every third day or so which is fine. You can clearly see on the days where it recovers the drift from the previous. Takes more charge for the same %.

Hubble instructions for force balancing is to disconnect the CAN cable and setup voltage charging.

I haven't done it yet - I set my inverter to 100% SOC with grid charge enabled - which looks like it eventually balanced them.

I was thinking more the other way around and discharging not being controlled by the BMS.
 
So with the cloud this morning, and LS, and my wife doing wife things with the heaters etc. the batteries went flat at about 5%.

Problem is the sun is out now and the panels aren't charging the batteries. They come online for about 5 seconds and then die. Tried a complete restart of everything but can't seem to get the panels to consistently output power. LS is only due to end at 2pm. Any ideas?
All working 100s again?

The depth-of-discharge thing seems to my eye to be less of an issue though: 3000 cycles at 100% depth-of-discharge, vs 6000 half-cycles, would get me to roughly the same amount of kWh over its lifespan. Or am I misunderstanding something?

Maybe I'll just work it as hard as I can and then replace it with something else in roughly 3000 days.

You're misunderstanding cycles. 6000 half cycles is only 3000 cycles.
