All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

I haven't yet
This is the first quote I received and these are the brands the installer is punting.

I thought deye = sunsynk
same hardware, different software layer on the inverter and the app side

This ^ And Deye manufactures for Sunsynk - check price if you can get Deye cheaper the go for it you getting the same thing (if not better) for cheaper - the online monitoring software is much better on Deye (used to be the opposite when i first purchased but they have improved significantly)

My house, folks house and mother in law run Synsynk which I manage.

Just installed at our business and went DEYE there.

Running both apps on my phone as a result.

If I need to replace any of the Sunsynk's in future, I'll migrate to DEYE because of the App.

However, the Sunsynk web portal in a browser tab has auto refreshing enabled while the DEYE site needs an F5 all the time to get the latest snapshot.

Hey everyone. I should probably read through all the pages to see if this has been asked, but any guidance would be great.

We bought a house with a solar system installed, namely an 8kw inverter, 12 panels and 2x 5.32kw batteries (Sunsynk inverter and batteries). It is around 3 years old, batteries still in very good health.

I really want to upgrade the battery capacity as our fridges/cameras/spotlights etc make for a reasonably high "idle" load. While the batteries last the night, I'm doubtful if they'll last during winter / we sometimes use the airfryer quite a bit for dinner.

In short, the inverter is perfect for our needs but I'm looking for recommendations on expanding the battery capacity. And due to the 5.32kwh batteries, they are "end of life" with regards to Sunsynk, but could get Eenovance. Which still seems pretty expensive compared to other brands. Should I:

  1. Buy another Sunsynk / Eenovance 5Kwh battery. Looks to be around R23k installed with the wiring etc, does this sound correct?
In February I added a 5.32kWh Eenovance battery to my existing 5.32 Sunsynk battery.

Cost was just under R16k, including equipment and installation.

honestly not something i noticed ( i guess you try to keep all active and not just check when you need to)

I find the opposite when i need to view smart load an dnon essential load on the sites on Sunsynk (same friends and family) have to click on detail but deye is there already on the front

Who did you use? That's much more in line with what I was expecting.

My Sunsynk inverter dropped of the wireless network a few days ago (I did not notice as I use Solar Assistant). Checked and there are no LEDs on the WiFi dongle anymore and I suspect the RS232 port on the inverter is faulty. Guess I will give that "repair" a try where you remove a shorted capacitor from the RS232 board.

Common issue, test another dongle in there or test your dongle elsewhere to isolate that being fine.
Then, if it's not the dongle it's the WiFi board the dongle connects to, which can be easily removed and taken to Sunsynk for a over the counter RMA.

not me but a few people have TLDR if you on a time of use type billing it will help other wise not much

i see they emailed the other day a storm based update not sure if i will test this
I saw that too, called Weather Guard, seems okay in principle I guess and maybe handy for people who don't have time to manage their settings by hand.

Hi all
Looking for some opinions.
Ive received a quote for solar - does anyone have any ideas which is the better option.

Option 1: 8kW Sunsynk/Sunsynk
8 x Tier 1 PV panels of 545W each = 4,360 kWp
1 x 8kW Sunsynk Hybrid Smart Inverter
2 x 5kWhr Sunsynk Lithium Battery
R 115 000

Option 2: 8kW Solis/Hubble
8 x Tier 1 PV panels of 545W each = 4,360 kWp
1 x 8kW Solis Hybrid Smart Inverter
2 x 5kWhr Hubble AM-5 Lithium battery
R109 000

I have already asked the installer to add another 2 panels, waiting for feedback.

Basically, which is the better direction to go: sunsynk or solis?

Apologies of this is the wrong place to post
Hello all,
Install is finally happening after a long wait.
Ive had a Sunsynk installed with hubble am5+ bartries instead of the Solis Inverter.

Today I noticed they offloaded 10 Enersol 580 watt panels instead of the quoted Tier 1 545w panels.

I don't know much about these things but ChatGPT seems to think Enersol panels aren't Tier 1.

You think it is worth me kicking up a fuss with the installer and insisting on Tier 1?

Does anyone have experience with Enersol?

My Deye, and another I know of, did this about two months before the entire thing went down.

It was still functioning in the background, but nothing was working, screen, SolarAssistant, etc.

Fortunately sorted under warranty. Still cost me a bit because the original installers turned out to be the backyard builder type

The tier 1 vs tier 2 is more and industry rating on how long the company has been in business so not an indication of the warranty but the perceived ability to hour said warranty a tier 1 company been around for 5+ years while a tier 2 is 2 to 5 years - but tier 1 would be more expensive
no experience on enersole cant find any tier rating but they been around since 2013 so interms of tier they are technically tier 1

so you would need to put up a fuss if you overpaid for the panels if enersol are cheaper

Thanks for the reply! Appreciate the information.
The company doing the work is the largest in the city I live in, I'm coming to the conclusion I must have a bit of faith in them

I managed to resolve my issue by following the Sunsynk guide on removing the faulty component on the RS232 board. No further issues thus far.
