All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

Good thinking. The problem is that one can only control the charge from Grid and Genny, not solar.

JP van Riel did request it on the Sunsynk forum more than 2 years ago, but like much of the requests there, it was ignored. :(

He doesn't have solar

Generic questions will fit in well here. If you're starting up your own install a new thread might be best.

What is a good price currently for a 5kva Sunsynk. I'm getting prices of R26k including delivery... good?
I want to parallel with my existing Sunsynk. Are there concerns about hardware versions, or do I only need to match firmware?

The price seems fair I'm not sure about any hardware changes.

Check if all inverters have the same operating system and the latest software version and are the same model.

Lol so Geewiz had them for R25990 so I phoned today to confirm they had stock after a bad experience with them before and they confirmed yes... But now the price has been hiked 2k.
I was going to confirm earlier that PFS has them (limited stock) for R 25,725.50 incl VAT., but decided not to. Instead, I called PFS up and asked them to be aware of a guy called Willie Trombone aka Haggis McSheepmeat who was trawling for quotes on a secondary inverter. Also that this same McMutton was a dunce who didn't understand the difference between resilience and redundancy.
They replied that they had sight of him, but it was lost> They aalos assurred me that and that they, generally speaking, membera are used to or quite outrageous tasks.

No drinky and typey Ron!
It was 16 very, very good years

Is there a way to send power to your geyser automatically via a Sunsynk inverter setup?

Say we use batteries overnight to power lights etc

Morning comes and we charge up battery and there is excess power. Is there an automatic way of turning on the geyser? Or do you need to manually do this via a smart switch?

I have geyserwise installed and I suppose the other option is to set geyser to come on after batteries have charged based on previous learnings and charging times?

Maybe in the future but not right now.
They have an "application centre" where they support integrations with Philips hue lights I think. In the future perhaps more intrgrations will be made available.

There might be something with Home Assistant but I'm no expert on that front.

I just use a CBI astute smart switch that I use to control the timing on my geyser.

A few of us use the CBI astute some modified some not some integrated into home assistant etc but sunsynk did announce smart switch functionality and it popped up on the website and app but the actual smart switch is planned for around a march release it seems. Sounds like they will chuck a free switch in with the inverters once released and they claimed in a video that they will be cheap.

Yes. It used to be called a Smart load, now "Auxilliary Load" on the Aux port. From the Sunsynk manual:

Silly question - if one were to run the geyser through the Aux Port - would the geyser only ever get power through the Aux or could it still draw from grid?
There is nothing preventing you wiring it via a 3 pole changeover switch.

He said that during the 2023 Budget scheduled for 22 February, the minister of finance will announce how households and businesses will benefit from a tax incentive relating to rooftop solar.

Any speculation?

Unusual Sunsynk problem - 5kVa, PV, single battery - overloads (intermittent) when Eskom power comes back on.

Anyone here experienced something similar?

What's your reconnection time set to? Also, does it trigger the error at actual Eskom power-on or after the reconnection time delay?

Judging by what has been posted on the powerforum thread, there are large loads on the non-essential side. Most likely geysers. When grid comes back the geysers and battery being charged draw more than the inverter can provide. Consider putting the geysers on timers so that they're never on at the same time.

Edit: 5kW Sunsynk is limited to 35A (8kw) AC passthrough.

I thought that the non-essentials are NOT connected to the Inverter?

But if it's loads on the non essential then it shouldn't affect the inverter?
Or are you saying that the big loads on eskom as the power is returning is affecting the grid stability that is causing the inverter error?
