All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

The local guys are still waiting for stock of the batteries, but I have secured 2 of the 5.32kWh units. Also found out directly from Sunsynk that the 5.32kWh and 10.65kWh units are new and only for the SA market (hence why they're not on the official website), they're manufactured by some place called Enovance (although my Google-fu fails to find me anything useful on them).

Same warranty and still backed by Sunsynk though.
When I finally have some cash to splurge, I will definitely go with the 8kw SunSynk + 10kwh battery pack. Really love the fact that they are local and the support seems to be great!

I have been putting this off for a while and have money saved for this project but it still hurts putting down 70K for 2 batteries
I know the feeling :-) Never mind, enter the BSL Batt giveaway on Powerforum:

I'll need to be satisfied first before entering the customer satisfaction competition.

I just placed the order for my 8kVA inverter now. So once my batteries and inverter arrive I just need the panels and somebody to install everything!

Buying the equipment myself worked out R8100 cheaper than the initial quote I got for this stuff.

Yes, the title is misleading, but there are many general questions which can give them some valuable insights. I don't own BSLBatt, but I do hold them in high regard as a battery manufacturer, and I gave them some pretty detailed information on my own decision making process, and also exactly why I eventually opted for Pylontech and Hubble vs their product.

You can ask The Powerforumstore for a list of recommended installers in CT, that will probably be your best bet. Second best is to look at the listing of Sunsynk Accredited installers on the Sunsynk support site https://www.sunsynk.org/approvedinstallers

Batteries should be arriving today.

Have the roofing guys in today fixing a roof so had them inspect the roof I want to put my panels up on and will just be doing some minor work there to ensure that it's ready for the installers when it's time.

And my 2 batteries have arrived! Poor courier, it was just one guy - luckily I have a trolley so wasn't too much of a pain offloading them.

Quite happy with the service from LiteGlo, I contacted their email support after seeing the batteries out of stock everywhere and they were very responsive. They had some delays getting them in but the guy let me place an order online even though they were showing out of stock.

Decent price too and delivery was free, they have in stock again now if anyone wants to grab some: https://www.liteglo.co.za/shop/sunsynk-catl-5-12kwh-51-2v-lithium-battery/

And to my surprise my inverter from Powerforum store also arrived now, I had no idea it was even coming today (or that it had even shipped). Those guys could probably touch up on their communication skills.

Is your installation still happening this year? If so, lucky you!

Is it possible to access Deye Inverters remotely to change various settings like the grid charge times, etc?

Yes but I would just get Solar Assist.

I don't even bother with the Solarman apps since getting solar assist.

Looks like a pi and a couple of cables, see it can also connect to my batteries which will be great.
Yes. They sell the pi with the software preloaded or you can just get the software.

I ordered 2 cables so have it connected to the inverter and pylontech batteries.

Data is live from inverter and batteries whereas the Solarman app is 10 minutes delayed and sunsynk app I think is 2 to 5 minutes delayed.

I also get data from each battery and not just the entire battery bank. 865599712.jpg331084798.jpg

Another plus for solar assist is that it saves the data directly from the inverter to the pi.

I have found that with the Solarman app, if the Internet goes down for whatever reason, all data during that time is lost as it cannot store the data to the dongle to upload later. I've had my fibre go down for a couple of days and all that data over that period is missing.

I'm not sure how the sunsynk app handles it if the Internet is down.

The Solarman dongle cannot connect to a WiFi network where the password has any special characters. Solar assist on the pi can connect to any WiFi network and also has a lan port connection.

Do you run home assistant?

Running home assistant gives you more regular updates from the Solarman dongle so you don't necessarily need to use solar assistant. Solarman on HA updates every 60 secs, if one needs more regular than that then solar assistant is still the way to go.
