It might be worth testing a replacement EL or getting the sparky to disconnect eskom earth and testing on prem earth neutral bond only. Assuming you have an on prem spike in the ground.
Thanks will do, they did install an earth spike with the solar installation. Solid copper round bar, must cost a pretty penny.
 
Why would batter SOC spike above 100%? Noticed it twice now on both Solarman and Solar Assistant.

EDIT - scratch that - its only on Solar Assistant, solarman is fine

Got onto the roof yesterday - panels are covered in a layer of dust / sand ... what's interesting is that my yield hasn't dipped - I still get the odd cloud edge effect. Wonder how dirty they need to get before you see the dip
 
I have sonoff's switching off my fridges and freezers at 10PM and back on at 6AM and the TV, amp, decoder in the lounge. My baselode is about 250W now compared to 500W. It allowed me to run the heat pump at 4AM to heat up my geysers without using Eskom too much because I generally went down to 25% SOC. I have subsequently added another battery and this allows me to heat the geysers and still have a buffer of about 40% SOC for winter and cloudy days.

Ok, something for me to consider. My issue at the moment is that Im hitting 40% SOC when switching to batteries from 10pm.

My 12 x 545w are all north facing and Im currently generating 1.19kw. Yesterday I was generating about 3kw at around the same time. Wondering whether I shouldn't add 4 more panels, east facing.

My daily usage is around 30kw.

Was like 22, degrees outside...what do you normally get? I'm in CPT.

At 2pm it was generating 4.5kw. Now I'm back down to 1kw. 17 degrees.
Might just be a point in time. I am also in CPT. What was your overall generation for yesterday?

Yeh - today was shitty - forecast dropped from 32kw to 22kw. I'm sitting on 20 for the day with 20x 450w panels

Mine are terribly positioned because my house roof is basically flat. They're effectively South West at 3 degrees.

Every now and then, my Sunsynk app says "disconnected from grid". But the grid is up (Oven is on non-essentials and the clock is on is my acid test). 5 Minutes later, the app tells me connected to grid. There are no faults registered on the app and everything seems fine. Anything else I can check or should be worried about?

I would say the grid voltage or frequency are not perfect enough for the Sunsynk to accept.

On 2 different occasions, during severe wind, my Sunsynk sent me disconnects and reconnects all day long because the overhead lines in the street were being blown around. I eventually turned my mains off for the day. When the wind had calmed, I turned the Mains back on and there were no more notifications until the next loadshedding event.

Also, I have heard that loadshedding switch off's on other blocks can cause a ripple on the electrical infrastructure on your block, which upsets the inverter and causes it to disconnect until it settles.

Remember that the inverter has a wait time, which you can edit, before it will reconnect to the grid, hence the gap between disconnect and reconnect notifications.

Just out of curiosity, does the inverter reports mains voltage during these interruptions? It might be interesting to see the deviations. Frequency deviations would be rather surprising...

So mine is not too bad considering I have only 6000w capacity. Wanting to add 4 more so I can catch more morning sun. Are any of yours east facing?
I got 19 kWh from 5.5 kWp worth of panels, in Cape Town yesterday. Perfectly north facing.
