All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

Morning all. I’m new to all this having lived in complexes through the load shedding saga. I’m a big fan of local only and I run HA for other automation. Is the Deye inverter capable of pushing/pulling metrics via a local connection only and not have an internet connection? Would that only be via serial connection or is there the option of connecting to the WiFi and limiting internet access (other than me doing it on my firewall)? There’s so much info in this thread and I’m slowly reading through it.

That was my thought, as grid back feed specifically, seems to be how the Grid power, Grid power LD and Grid power CT values are interpreted by Solar Assistant versus Deye.

After some feedback from Solar Assistant I changed the Grid Connection from Auto Detect to CT clamp installed.

The Grid power, Grid power LD and Grid power CT values look like this now.

And MQTT picks up the power back fed via the inverter as non essential load.

So it looks to be working as it should now but I'll keep an eye on things.

Anyone experiencing connection issues with seriel numbers?

Anyone done a firmware update on a Deye and would recommend or of the opinion not broken don't fix it?

Don't fix it if it's not broken I always say.
 
Have done a couple of upgrades because I had to parallel two on different firmwares, but have also heard horror stories about bricked devices after an upgrade. Nothing new on the features that I'm aware of. I've owned 2x 5.5 Sunsynks for around 4-5 years now (well one for 5 and 1 for 4). One has had to go back under warranty, but luckily I have a parallel setup.

Fokket bra. I just got a chill down my spine.

I once did that on my 8kw Sunsynk. Inverter was fscked.

Got it fixed at the time.

Since then, I have only ever done 1 more FW update.

If it ain't broke...
 
I received a notification from Home Assistant telling me our power is off. Went to check the prepaid meter - all good. Checked the inverter - seems unhappy as incoming volts is 255. Cutoff is 251v on the higher end so the inverter disconnected I presume to protect itself.

More to protect your appliances but yes. A bit on the high side. Most appliances should be fine up to 270. Not sure why it should switch the output off though. I’d have assumed it would still continue to feed the house.

Yeah sorry that's what I meant. 22:30 brain + having the flu = tired. It does feed the house, but cuts the incoming feed.

I may have to chance it and switch over to Eskom. Raining all day so no chance of PV carrying us through to the end of the day and the batteries are already very close to the cutoff SoC.

Upping the threshold a bit wont hurt IMO. Like up to 265 will likely be fine, especially until your batteries are up.
 
Does anyone restart their inverter periodically, I have all running through it and noticed a lag when I turn the geyser on and what is shown on the Inverter screen to update

I've never restarted ours since August 2023 when it was installed. I only switch the grid on with pathetic weather (no more than 10 days a year).

The dickheads have been out to audit us several times asking if we have power. lol. Not really a lol sadly, we pay R1400 per month before we actually use any of their power, the winner is not me/us.

With solar assistant and a standard geyserwise when I push it's on button and return to my PC it already reflects (so say less than 10 seconds). What kind of lag are you talking about?

How do you sleep at night? I would only be able to after cutting the cord.

My settings seem locked. It looks like you set a 'grid setting' and then it populates all the thresholds and stuff (frequency, voltage, and so on). I'll play around a bit later when I am feeling more human. I see other folks in the NHW group also reported issues with their inverters.

You could possibly set it at 240v, 50hz, but it might be tied to a 'profile', I don't recall. It probably also depends on the firmware version I guess.
