Mediaservices, the owner of the controversial music download site AllofMP3, will pursue "every avenue" to overturn the decisions of Visa and Mastercard to stop processing payments to the company.

In a statement today, the Russian company said the blacklisting was "arbitrary, capricious and discriminatory". Visa and Mastercard had no authority to judge the legality of AllofMP3's services, and their "determination that the company’s activities were illegal is patently erroneous and without legal merit", it said. "AllofMP3 has not been found by any court in the world to be in violation of any law...To disqualify AllofMP3 based on a payment processing company’s whim is irresponsible and sets a bad precedence."

AllofMP3 is under fire from the world's music industry for selling music downloads at knockdown prices without the authorisation of copyright holders. According to industry estimates, the company turns over £20m a year and is the UK's second most popular music download site, behind iTunes, with 14 per cent market share. The hugely popular service says it complies with Russian law.

"Visa and MasterCard should immediately re-qualify AllofMP3," said Vadim Mamotin, Director General of Mediaservices. "There is no valid reason and absolutely no legal basis for the action."

Just suck it down Vadim ... we all know you were bunch of low life pirate scum hiding behind a veil of confused Russian copyright law.

Ask not for who the bell tolls . . .

....and then there was more russian mp3 sites

It's strange that a site like www.gomusic.ru is using the exact same merchant to handle their credit card transactions and are using the EXACT same mp3-costing model/issue but you can still use visa+mastercard with them.

So RIAA is targetting one company, killing it will result in 10 new ones popping up in it's place.

...well that's why all this hoo-hah is going on with www.allofmp3.com because they are even cheaper [if you buy lesser bitrate/smaller formats] . Allofmp3 even have this nice seperate I-tunes like software from which you can listen+buy+download .

He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone. John 8:7.

..and the L0rd blessed the pirates who had saved the anointed from the deep. Hezekiah 17:24.

:p

"Thou shalt not steal" is pretty damm clear I think but then we make exceptions for a dodgy MP3 site as long we can get what we want but heaven forbid any of us getting hijacked and anything taken from us and then witness the outpouring of outrage and indignation on this very forum.

Strange sense of morality we have in the world today.

That's not gonna stop anyone.

AllOfMP3 also accept XROST prepaid cards, which can be purchased with VISAs and mastercards. lol.

That was unnecessary misuse and misinterpretation of scripture dude, seriously.

HuH?

As I recall the original context involves stoning to death a woman accused of adultery... last time I looked, adultery made it into the Ten Commandments before stealing did.:)

STEALING is different from COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT, they even made itdifferent words so that you can understand it...

Exactly! And under SA law most "copyright infringement" is not even a criminal offence. Everybody gets brainwashed by the music companies' lies about "copying is stealing" and "music piracy". Grabbing some MP3s is NOT stealing/theft/robbery/piracy, and is only copyright infringement under certain circumstances.

So, go forth and take what you can get my children.:D
Why pay for what you can get for free?

If it's about piracy, then there are worse offenders than allofmp3!
If you don't care one way or the other, you're prob getting your music for free somewhere else. No?

So what's the fuss?
