All those brands are pretty commonly known to be cheapline rubbish. JVC being the exception, though now i know to stay far away from that too.

How about we don't buy (boycott) Nu-World products?
Not sure who buys those brands to begin with its pretty k@k.

At a distance of 100m it is almost impossible for the human eye to discern the difference between 1080p and 21600p in size 100" and below, so why not market your TV sets as UUUUUHD?
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say because the "EDID" data you provide isn't valid, which makes it not 100% reliable.
Seriously, I deal with every type of commercial and consumer panel manufacturer on a regular basis for digital signage purposes. Most of them legit brands and some of them dodgy re-sellers, some of them local manufacturers and some of them importers of Chinese crap. It is scary how much even the sellers don't understand the basics, or do and try to bull**** you. The boards that a lot of cheap Chinese crap re-sellers report default to factory standards and have not been correctly programmed.
If you want a cheap, locally assembled TV and don't care for "SmartTV", go with PVision (I'm not sure if they do consumer stuff).
If you want a cheap, locally assembled, good quality panel and don't care for "SmartTV", go with Sinotec. *(1)
If you want a good panel with SmartTV capabilities, go with LG or Samsung. My current bias is towards LG, but that is because their developer platform is better is better then Samsung (WebOS > Tizen), and ... well... I love OLED.
*(1) Sinotec use the same panels as LG if I'm remembering correctly, and they are good panels. Their driver boards and overall platform is ****ing horrible though. I was given one of their SmartTV's and after 5 minutes decided it was an idiot and relegated it to just being a presentation monitor. 50% of the time it is off because it can't even operate as a monitor. Lovely picture, bad driver board.

Don't know why they even mention that. My 400x800 8 year old cellphone also supports 1920x1080 on input.

Oh my god. Reading that response, my gob is officially smacked.
What Nu-World is ignoring is the FACT that they state on boxes that the panels have a resolution of 1920 x 1080 when testing proves that the resolution is actually lower. That's objective reality from Nu-World, not an inconsistent naming standard. Or what, is Nu-World going to state that there is no standard size for pixels, and their pixels have different sizes to other pixels? That is tragic.
@KevinLancaster: have you contacted JVC or Telefunken globally to ask them for comment on Nu-World's latest statement, in light of your testing and that response?

i'll buy one of their TVs. i'll take a R10000 one and pay R1000, because it's almost impossible to tell the difference between R1000 and R10000 when you haven't counted it.
