Alternative Cryptocurrencies (General Discussion & Trading)

I haven't heard of Profit Trailer before.

I tend to shy away from paid-for products and figuring the things out myself as it's a nice learning experience. With Gekko for instance you can combine two or three strats to make it suit your style and preference. But it is a lot of testing and fiddling to get it working properly.

The testimonials for PT seem good, maybe someone else on here has had some experience with them?

With Gekko, do you have to be able to read the charts or does the bot do it for you?

The bot interprets the candle data pulled from whatever exchange you point it to. You then setup what strategy you want (RSI, MACD, etc.) and it sets up a market watcher for the currency pair you choose and performs trades using your API key.

Here are some paper traders I have running, at a loss of course :D

You can also backtest with historical data, but this is very sluggish on a Pi and not all exchanges support this feature over all currency pairs.

and return wise?

I've not really tested the bots long enough, I dig the software for trading manually. I should really take time to test the bots. They've just included a Bollenger band bot in the most recent version.

I haven't SODL insomuch as I've spread my portfolio across a few coins, focussing on BTC, ETH, LTC and XRP.

Slapped all of them on my ledger now and locking it away. Watching the market graphs is making me old before my time. :o

Couldn't agree with you more

What exchange do you guys use for your Altcoins? I'm looking at one that allows buying of Altcoins with BTC and doesn't require a minimum of some stupid amount of 0.1 BTC or something alike... If i could buy small amounts (say R300) of coins that trade below $1 at a time that would be great.

Signed up to Bitfinex a while back but I can't buy ANYTHING on the exchange as it appears one needs a minimum of 0.1 BTC to transact of the exchange, so i have around 0.02 BTC in there that I wanted to use on Altcoins but cant. Oh, to withdraw they also require a minimum amount of less that what's in there, so essentially I have 0.02BTC sitting on an exchange that i can't do sweet F ALL with...

Any suggestions on exchanges that don't have these high mins would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

I think Binance will allow you to do that. I've not got a lot of other accounts.

Any reason you're not just using ethereum? It's almost impossible to use btc the way you want to. With eth you can use any of the larger exchanges as well as some smaller ones with newer coins.

Nope, no reason. Just the price that has soared but yes, this is looking like my best bet isn't it...
Bitfinex won't even allow me to exchange my BTC for ETH as it says the min order amount is invalid so will need to probably trickle BTC in there from mining until it's enough to convert to another coin, or can I do that with shapeshift?

I use cryptopia.
This was my preferred option to follow but they're not taking on new users at the moment.
