Alternative Cryptocurrencies (General Discussion & Trading)

XRM Lumens (dev team sprouted from ripple AFAIK) has some big news. IBM is collaborating with them on a platform which was showcased at Sibos 2017.

In the kind of unveiling that can only come before one of the biggest events in global finance, IBM is revealing today at Sibos 2017 the results of a partnership with blockchain startup Stellar in which it successfully settled real transactions using the company's custom cryptocurrency, lumens.

While currently limited to cross-border payments involving British pounds and Fijian dollars, the early-stage platform is nonetheless designed to scale to handle seven fiat currencies in the South Pacific – including the Australian dollar, the New Zealand dollar and the Tonga pa'anga.

XRM is about R0.50 at the moment, may be worthwhile to stock up just in case.

I'm posting this because I got burned when I first started by just buying what some dude on the internet said. And it's why people need to get a bit of context before they buy something. Stellar Lumens just went up over 140% in the last 24 hours, hit a high and is busy coming down again. Don't just buy it because there's some news and 50c sounds cheap. If you bought you'd already be down 5% and it's still falling. Wait for the price to find support & settle before buying in.

XRM -> XLM

Thanks for the correction.

As for getting burned is concerned, buy in at next low only to a quantity you can easily afford. This is probably not fast money, rather consider for long term as in a couple of years. Having IBM serious on a project, by which I mean their own developments in partnership with XLM (as opposed to XLM itself as such) may turn out profitable in the long run.

Might get lucky and see another rocket in the next few hours. I bought these at $0.01 and sold at 0.02$ about a week or two ago. Be interesting to see where it goes the next few months. You bought / are holding some?

Yes, bought 400 at more or less the point at which it was said 'don't buy here' :) as my FOMO entry, the next step is more diligent research and monitoring with a possible longish-standing buy order to hit at a low and the usual 60% sell-off of the initial investment sell order for a possible double (as you had).

Altcoin markets still seem bearish right now :(.
Nothing seems to want to take off - it gets a boost then falls right back down again. Even XRP ripple has in the last 4 hours fallen all the way down to where it started today. Not enough volume coming in to sustain anything.

@etienne_marais:
:p
Nice - hope you get a decent sized profit from it.

Patience my good man, in fact I would suggest taking the approach of making good use of volatility and switching coins as opposed to hoping for consistent growth and swearing by a portfolio (with some exceptions), also make use of the principle that certain coins grow/dip alongside bitcoins and others do the opposite than bitcoin. Remember that it just seem impossible for anything else than most coins to eventually fail as the lucrativeness of the ideas behind some coins will eventually be meaningless without real world adoption for a real purpose and that some growth trends are simply due to crypto junkies being hopeful.

Went on a bit of a spending spree today on ALT Coins, but only on coins I already had, but feel I could do with more. So bought more CIVIC (barely had any, so I think it's a good time to buy), NEO, ETH, OmiseGo and Ripple. All projects that I think have a good future. Missing out on some Bitcoin due to it, but I think ALT Coins are close to bottoming out, and should hopefully rise steadily after the potential Bitcoin forks. Guess time will tell, but these are my long term hodl's anyway.

I did the same thing today and bought high :erm:

I see you're up on XLM. If it stays strong until the fork is over probably a lot more bitcoin will pour into it and take the price up. Gonna be watching it.

@ the person who should've bought more UNO:
