Electroneum....

Electroneum Re-Launch Date & Time Confirmed
Hi Everyone!

We are launching access to the Android app and web based wallet manager tomorrow (Wed 13th) at 12 noon UK time. If you have an Android device you'll need to download the new app from the play store AFTER 12 noon. Google roll out apps around the world over a few hours, so we can't guarantee you'll have instant access to the new app, but keep trying after 12 noon (UK time). You'll need to remove the old app from your phone, we are starting fresh due to the number of changes, which now includes 18 languages, market data and a viral referral system.

Web based wallets (https://my.electroneum.com) will be live at noon. This can be accessed on any device and allows iOS users access to their wallets.

PASSWORD RESET TOMORROW AFTER 12 NOON UK TIME.

You WILL need to reset your password from https://my.electroneum.com AFTER 12 noon tomorrow. We are prepared for heavy load - but we are likely to see hundreds of thousands of users visit our website tomorrow afternoon. You will need to confirm your account on your mobile device by SMS message, and set up a new 5 digit PIN numbers.

Partner Update

We have just signed a agreement with an Airtime provider (mobile operator) with over 5m smartphones in the market and are in the final stages with a number of other operators. We will release full details of each of these deals in conjunction with the providers.

In line with the detailed data requirements of these partnerships we are releasing the mobile miner section of the app in the New Year as we need to ensure we carry out a staged rollout with commercial sized groups of beta testers. We will also have our iOS app into beta test in the New Year. This will not effect the wallet section of the app, which is fully functional.

Have a great day / evening everyone!

I guess what I'm saying is to be careful of buying something when it's at an all-time high. The only reason you know about Litecoin right now is because of the huge price increase. The ease with which you can buy cryptocurrencies doesn't mean that you approach it so flippantly and without a bit of research. To just throw money at something because HOLY **** IT'S MOONING isn't a strategy that's viable. Sure, you might make some money, but the best way to approach a lot of trades is with patience and due diligence.

Look at this chart for Litecoin:

View attachment 485080

The people making real money from this bought down in the green circle, everyone else that's scared of missing out is jumping on the bandwagon along the way and now - you're wanting to jump in right at the top. Obviously you can make money buying now, and yes - it might go 10x but...I prefer sticking to the general rule of not buying at new highs, regardless of how tempting it is.

For sure, wait for a bit of stability after the spike before buying, but bear in mind that any sane person would have said wait from 160 to 320... and you have no indication in the green circle that it wasn't going to correct right back down. Trailing indicators aren't helpful for decision making, and if you're going to read candles, rather study it IMO. Did you buy in the green circle because you expected the spike?

What about their fake mobile miner. :crylaugh:
You think anyone gives a **** when they've potentially got deals with mobile operators and marketing companies? Look what a stupid kitten game did. There's so much hype behind electroneum nobody really cares that the mobile mining isn't real mining (which they mentioned at the start). If they market this thing properly and have the connections they say they do this might do well despite all the stumbling along the way.

(I'm not a fanboi...I'm also annoyed by how things went since the ICO)

Ripple has deals with major banks. It's hardly lit up the world.

As a rule if I see price movement like that I turn my interests elsewhere.

I generally try to buy in quieter periods, maybe look out for spikes in volume that often precede gains like that. Set a stop-loss for a % loss I'm happy with and let the trade play out. So long as it remains above that stop loss I leave it. Sometimes trade in and out to gain more holdings.

When you realize how juvenile so much of crypto-space is it won't surprise you that kitties and ****coins often do better than those big projects with boring things like deals with major banks. I have no idea what electroneum will do...as a company they've been pretty meh so far, but this whole space is so crazy right now it's just impossible to know. I think the hype will carry them.

OK, now I'm confused, I thought you were punting the fact that they have deals with reputable firms. Not having a go at you, it's just the logic seems iffy. i.e. it's more of a hunch, right?

I think they handled the post ICO stuff pretty badly, including ditching their own blockchain. All this hype and then things came crashing down a bit.

The deals with reputable firms are adding to the hype that seems to be (from looking at other forums) lying beneath the surface waiting to break out again. They've worked with Hackerone to complete a security audit and claim to have a few deals in the works. But yeah you're right - it is more a hunch than anything else. There seem to be a lot of people who still support them.

(Ugh...I'll try again tomorrow. Been at the computer far too long today.)

Poloniex / Bittrex FTW... but to be fair, when buying, it's far easier for most to do an EFT.

@weelzSA If you're buying to trade, then yes, you put in what you want to trade and you move it around to make profit.

Yes it would be to buy and then sell when I want to - so not long term (might take half and keep for long term - thinking of buying 8-10 coins). Knowing that, what would you suggest?

I would suggest buy at Altcointrader and transfer to Poloniex or Bittrex then trade there until you're ready to move back. If you don't mind generally slower trading, but less risky, possibly stick with Altcointrader since they have a few options and you can jump in and out of a ZAR balance which you can't do on the others. Trading against BTC all the time can be tough when it's doing well.

No, I don't think they give a fck. Release a fake mobile mining app and use clever word play to insinuate that you can actually profitably mine ETN on your mobile...LOL

Well, it has to be said they were upfront about it not being a real miner from the start, it is emulating mining by being tiered to the network difficulty and paying out premined coins. They are not contributing anything as far as I can see in terms of new tech, but then again that is not the only factor in blockchain tech. as marketing and business savvy alongside real world usage are just as important.

Basically they want to empower mobile users to have a crypto wallet that can pay for real world application and secondary to that introduce the mobile market to the concepts of mining and crypto in general. It is also possible of course that the whole thing fails dismally.

I will be watching ETN price for a while, up 24% since yesterday now at $0.126 (12.6 times ICO buy in price).

Why did you invest in Dimpay though?

Went through their website and i liked the ideas behind it. Looks like a fully South African team. Other than that, I don't know anything about it so it's a bit of a shot in the dark. Prob not wise but I didn't put much in.
