alternative to a microwave

i see that Convection Ovens are punted as an alternative to microwaves. anyone used these before ? are there other alternatives without switching on the big olde oven or using the stove ?

I don't see how any of these can beat the convenience of a micro. Where is the benefit?

I'm guessing a microwave is also substantially more energy efficient.

Been using them for 5 or 6 years now. Still use the microwave for rice.

Yeah I saw that infomercial: "Flavorwave Oven® Turbo uses Halogen Heat, Infrared Waves, and Convection Cooking"

That chick puts in a raw mealie, frozen steak and some potatoes and everything is cooked perfectly in 10 minutes.

what about those microwave grill combo's?

maybe i'm just difficult but food out of a microwave is never the same, so i prefer a oven, takes longer but it works and my food doesn't taste like plastic.
