11 months ago my girlfriend did some work for a company based in Dubai.

After a month of work she decided it wasn’t for her and she resigned.

She is still waiting for payment (+-R60k)

I have had enough of the false promises and excuses about payment so have started posting all over their Linkedin and facebook walls (subsequently I have been blocked on their facebook page)

Im now adding a page to my personal blog and am going to start running google ads.

I really dont know how else to get them to pay besides embarrassing them and generating enough negative traffic to force them to do it.

Am I going about this the wrong way? What would you do?

Probably need to find dubai's equivalent of helopeter ? and contact some dubai authorities for more information.
Make sure to have all the company details and show proof of work.

Did your girlfriend have some sort of agreement/contract? Are they simply ignoring the request, or is there some legal reason for the delay, in other words, whats the full story?

Negative, remote work from SA

Damn ok, report them to the Dubai labour dept or something (LOL cuz of slaves but its worth a try?)

If she was in Dubai I could understand them withholding money, because you have to pay rent a year in advance and upfront and similar strange stuff.

The devil may be in the details here, so... What does her contract say? Does she have proof of work done, partial delivery, meeting notes, names and correspondence with them? How did she get the job? Was an agency used?

Maybe find out from their embassy if there's someone you can talk to? But get ducks docs in order before you do.

Full permanent contract, a full months work completed (admin mainly). No legal reason for delay, promised to pay by a certain date. Then no payment, been going round in circles like this for almost a year.

Scammed... is what you are.

Not really, we would happily take this on the chin if it was a scam.

The company is still operating and deriving income (its a global recruitment company for Spa)

Their excuse is they have cash flow issues, whilst they continue posting vacancies and are filling them.

We can either sit back and give up or try call them for what they are. Just confirming Im not being a ass and what other options I might have.

I'm not sure why adding ads to your personal blog would help..

Have you considered flying an airplane into a high rise building? That seems to get a lot of peoples attention.

You risk the danger of getting 'blacklisted' by them and never getting your money with a smear campaign. You may be committing a defamation crime and they could hold you account to that. Check on the laws in UAE before you venture to far.

You have to options, bad mouth them and never see the money and have possible legal issues or fight them legally for it. Maybe Interpol or open a case in Dubai police services.

As for a scam part, are you sure they exist in Dubai and do they really have offices in Dubai and not in Lagos?

Seems they don’t like the attention and have contacted us to hopefully resolve asap.
Will report back if this ever comes to fruition.

Im just over being buggered around, the legal route would take even longer and cost even more. Im looking for a quick turn around and to get what is deserved.

Be a man, fly up there and go get the money. Get drunk on the flight, and from the airport go straight to the head office.

This way you are also showing your prospective in-laws that you're worthy of their daughter because you have balls of steelwool.
