Amazon and Nokia entering digital map market

Interesting trend. I've heard that Google charge a fair amount of money after a certain threshold of accessing their map data, wonder if that has anything to do with it.
Also, will the new Kindle Fire(s) also run Android? Haven't seen any rumors to suggest the opposite, but it looks like some of the larger companies are starting to snub Google. Perhaps a Win8 based Kindle?
