Yeah me too man.

According to a forum member over at WPCentral he receive a reply from Vodacom saying they will only release the update in Dec/Jan.
@fishfreak : It was a major pain to install this update. My biggest problem is that the phone would not switch to flash update mode. I eventually figured out that I had to use the single USB 2 port on my laptop instead of one of the USB 3 ports. I lost my original Nokia data cable and was using a 3rd party replacement, so that might have had something to do with it.
Other things to think about: You lose all your apps and your start screen customisation. If you wait for the official update, you should be able to update without losing anything.
Google Nokia Software Updater for Retail 3.0.8. This should find the appropriate update for you automatically. I used the Nokia Product Support Tool for Store 5.0 to do the actual flashing.
Link please...
Ive done the required searching using the retailer and the support tool but alas there seems to be no amber. only the crappy old version. perhaps they have removed it? Ive spent two days trying to track down the new ROM. No success.
I don't trust what Vodacom says, anyone got any word about this from Nokia SA?
"Nokia Lumia Amber software release for Windows Phone 8 is shipping pre-loaded with Lumia 925 from launch and will be coming to the full Nokia Lumia range on Windows Phone 8. Rollout timings and feature availability vary by phone model, but wireless Over the Air (OTA) update is expected be rolling out during Q3 2013 following testing and operator approvals."
Indeed, a most 'generic' response. I've since contacted Vodacom SA, hoping for a more relevant response (all in good spirits) - and they're expecting the update to be rolled-out December / Jan 2014.
I would wait just a short while if you are on Vodacom. This update is expected soon by OTA for the respective devices. This is the safer way in stead of turning your phone into a useless brick.
The firmware file name is RM821_3047.0000.1326.2001_RETAIL_im_south_africa_219_01_248831_prd_signed.ffu
for a Lumia 920
Soon as in Dec/Jan? A couple places have mentioned that only after your country gets the 925 and the 1020 if your lucky will the 920 and co. get Amber.
As soon as a rom becomes available, I'm upgrading.
If you brick it..Dead Flash it. Easy![]()
Where do you see 925 available at Vodacom, I cant find it anywhere?

The 925 is already available at Vodacom, 1020 we will probably only see around Nov/Dec at the earliest.
I doubt the rumor is true though as a lot of countries won't be getting either the 925 or 1020
You can use a ROM from a different country without any ill effects, I'm using the Swedish ROM on my 620 currently and everything is working.
Knowing Vodacom they will remove Data Sense from the software claiming that it needs hardware on their side to work which is utter BS.
That's cool, so what actually is the difference between country specific ROMs? Any idea?
You will not have to, the OTA notification will be on your device soon. If you really believe the contents of some the postings I can only feel sorry for you. Lots of hot air spoken/written around this topic unfortunately.Im gonna be pissed off if I have to wait till dec/jan to get Amber + GDR2

In fact I know when Vodacom network users will receive their OTA notifications which is soon but I promised not state the details for fear of server errors beyond control which might delay the notification as promised. Patience is a virtue equally Rome was not built in one day.
Looks like you are stating this "Beyond any reasonable doubt" that Data Sense will be removed, lets wait and see if this is a proven fact so we can make statements based on "Prima Facia" facts and not "Smoke and Mirror" stories based on hot air that is only good for hot air balloons. So they are just waiting for a ROM with Data Sense removed then so the OOB shark can claim more victims?
