Its ridiculous if you ask me...

R1800 or R1900 would be MUCH closer to the mark, and I'd more than likely buy one... at R2500.. nope, I'll stick with what I currently have thank you very much.

You looking at the release price though, which is always higher. I really think this thing is going to start kicking Nvidia in the shins.
 
Why is the release price higher?.. whats the justification other than pure greed?
 
The release price is always higher, because of high demand, they can ask whatever they please and they'll still sell it - however this is why I still went for the GTX 460 instead of the HD 6850.
 
So, you're agreeing that its purely greed that the release price is higher?....
 
You could and should talk to ori as he knows the total costs of importing goods from the states.. Just brought in a WC loop for me :D

its actually very basic economics, you dont have enough supply for the demand at launch, so you up the price.

This is exactly what I'm thinking. Once there is a larger supply of these cards in the country we can see the price dropping lower than this. I am still quite excited to get my grubby paws on one of these cards.

I know, and it performs quite close to the 5870, (if you don't have an i7 overclocked and 6 gigs of ram, the gap closes even more...). I really think it's an amazing deal from AMD, and they seem to be fighting hard with Nvidia to claw back market share. If I had the money, I'd buy one of these.
 
my memory is crap, but didn't the 9600GT come out at a similar price point?
