The Saturn was hard to code for because of the dual core.

No it was not dual core but dual cpu where they shared the same bus but could not access the memory registers at the same time so they relied a lot on cpu cache. Besides that it had six other off the shelve processors and they did not gel very well together.

Dual core or dual cpu is rather the same from a software perspective. Modern processors have the same disadvantage with the memory bus unless the data lies on the same memory portion. Kenji Eno replied on the impressive graphics of Enemy Zero that "the Playstation and the Saturn aren't that different, so moving it to Saturn wasn't too difficult." It seems like developers inability to code for it was unwarrantably blamed on the hardware. The same criticisms have actually been leveled at the Playstation since then. The Saturn was just the first console where it became apparent. One further drawback was the complex design making it hard to condense and reduce costs.

Sega made some bad decisions with their last two consoles but the hardware was more than able to give that of the competitors a run for it.
