Assassin's Creed dev thinks industry is dropping 60 fps standard

At Ubisoft for a long time we wanted to push 60 fps. I don't think it was a good idea because you don't gain that much from 60 fps and it doesn't look like the real thing. It's a bit like The Hobbit movie, it looked really weird

Is The Game Industry Dropping The 60 FPS Standard?

Keeping a game at the 30 frames per second limit supposedly allows developers to cram more into each frame, which means better visuals for gamers.

What Guérin and his colleagues working on Unity never tell anyone is the reason they say this is because it is the cutscenes they are referring to, which are all pre-rendered. They must have tested making those at 30fps and then using motion interpolation to compensate for the low frame rate, which would make things look very weird and feel very much like they're watching a soapie.

Its all a bunch of bull**** and Ubisoft's been trying to play the same 30fps card for a decade now. 30fps is NEVER a design choice, it's a compromise. They need to start making that disctinction.
