AMD PC build

Change the GPU to the Galax 97NQH6DNB4TX GeForce GTX 970 EXOC http://www.wootware.co.za/galax-97n...it-pci-express-3-0-desktop-graphics-card.html

This is gonna up the price by R2k

Unfortunately you will not be able to get both into that budget unless you maybe find some great bargain on Carbonite.

Do you need front USB3 ports, more SATA ports etc? Here's a better board for about R200 more http://www.takealot.com/msi-h81m-e35-intel-motherboard-socket-1150/PLID32848981

PS Just double check those prices you quoted from, that post is a month old and prices might have changed a bit.

Thanks for the recommendation, will double check this closer to when I build. It'll be in the next 2 months :). The front USB3 ports and extra SATA ports are nice extras, might just save that to put towards the SSD.

That board is just one exmaple, does not have more sata ports, extra usb & pci yes. What are your MB port requirements and we can look for something.

I have a AMD 1090T CPU and I've never felt the need to overclock it. Ever.

What's up with using overclocking as a positive?

Yup , only Intel Fanbois need to overclock :p Just finished my re-built .. have to say the MSi 990FXA-GD65 is not bad so far ... only problem is that is does not have usb3 ports for the front of my case :(

How would this build change with a bigger budget of 10-11k?

SSD or extra 1TB's for raid.
Personally more ram because I'm suffering on 8GB.
Better featured motherboard.

Thanks :). Would anyone recommend a different motherboard? Or leave that as is?
If you're going to overclock things like ram or add faster modules you'll need a better one.

I had to bring my budget down but I only need to get a gpu and then my system will be complete, do you guys think it is worth the money to get a nvidia gtx 750 ti for R1300?

Really good price for that card.

Have a look on the Carbonite forum, you can pick up some bargains there. That price is not bad though.

Is the gtx 750 ti going to be good for 2 years with games?

It will be good only to the extent that it will actually be able to play games. Probably on low settings and no higher than 1080p.

Games are starting to crank up the power quite rapidly, and DX12 hardware is going to provide a big advantage. I have an HD7970 (which performs somewhere around the same level as a GTX 770) and I'm already committed to buying a DX12 card next year. Maybe a CPU too thanks to DX12 utilising CPU power properly, if AMD's next lineup has some good offerings.

Thanks for all the help from everyone I finally finished my build and it runs perfectly, the system cost a total of R5000

Cool stuff. So what's the final build you went with on that budget out of curiosity?

Intel Core i5 4570
Kingston hyperX fury 4GB
gigabyte h81m s2pv
amd r7 265
corsair vs 450w

Yeah it's a really good build for R5k, the R7 265 is as close to a GTX660 in terms of performance you can get which would be good enough for the likes of GTA V (if they don't completely f-up the port) and Witcher 3.

R6k would of given more breathing room, especially with the graphics card, but I don't think I would of done any better with 5k if the budget was that strict.
