AMD soars after launching new graphics card

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. is on fire, and its competitors are sharing in the glory.

The stock surged as much as 6.1 percent Monday to $25.44, the highest level in more than a decade, after the chipmaker debuted a new graphics card over the weekend.

Zen has been very, very good to AMD and the consumer as it drives innovation from Intel's side. A little competition never hurt anybody :)

/hugs Ryzen CPU

No. The new Radeon v340 is based on the current Vega architecture.

Strictly speaking, any DX12 compatible card can do ray tracing.

We are all just waiting to see if it is possible to run it on any AMD or Nvidia card without cutting frame rates by 60%. Personally I think, based on previous new techs, it's only the 2nd of 3rd generation that provides playable frame rates of any new tech.

2 years... I think Samsung is going to enter this arena.
(Not graphics, CPUs)
