Ok, I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear. No it wasn't important but the Americans take their stuff seriously. If you mess with them they will make an example of you for deterrence reasons.

Whichever, the US military were hacked with default passwords which makes a myth of their advanced tech and brilliant people doesn't it.

No. Obviously the US isn't just full of brilliant people. There are even bored functionaries at all levels - but the tech this hacker used was US too - both h/w and s/w.

It's incredibly stupid logic to criticise the high tech and brilliantly manned US military for using unencrypted comms links on their drones which they have been aware of for 10 years.

Can just picture the sheet-head's sitting around a CRT watching the shirt bombed out their buddies.

I doubt it's "dumb", it's probably just old tech, probably analog and probably advanced for when it was made ... military tech like surveillance aircraft projects take a *long* time to develop (think decades, the overheads in major military projects like that are huge), and by the time newer tech comes around you typically end up with hundreds of existing installations of the old stuff, so you just use it as well, what would be dumb would be throwing it away, especially since the majority of those they use it against aren't very sophisticated at all. But hey, think whatever makes you feel clever. FTR I have actually worked on military surveillance aircraft projects.

For the record, it may seem like the US is filled with super-humans, but at NASA, for one, pretty much only the department heads and other high-ups are American, the rest are foreign. Same goes for Silicon Valley.

At least against the US army they have to actually make an effort. Against British forces they wouldn't have to look much further than a USB stick or two lying around on public transport to find classified information :whistle:

Well from a quick look and the sparse info available.

You need a DBTV card (full length card to fit in PC )

A Steerable Satellite dish.

I am not sure a Laptop on it's own is going to cut it.

Methinks more WMD American BS.

Yes maybe it works -- BUT -- It sure looks a lot more complex AND complicated than just switching your laptop on.

Couldn't they pinpoint the terrorist location by sniffing the satellite signal? Would make more sense than actually encrypting. Just use terrorist strength against them.

I certainly would have thought of encrypting the data streams... even 10 years ago. If you dont think thats smart... lol.

Imagine if they did not have access how much more successful it would have been frankie.

Drone's kill more innocents than actually enemy if you ask me and that is because everyone can see what is coming hahaha.

So the US keep nailing weddings for some odd reason. They keep coming out saying they just killed this leader or that leader but that is all crap they spew to the media :D.
