Amobia network degradation

I've been with Amobia for nearly a year now. I have the 3 Mb uncapped account. Up until around about Nov\Dec I was extremely satisfied! I had a fast, reliable connection. Since then it has degraded and become somewhat unreliable. Peak hour connection speed is noticeably slower. There has been a couple of outages. On a couple of occasions it was not full blown outage, but simply an unusable slow connection.

The connection is particularly bad tonight. After 5 or 6 speed tests the download speed is staying sub 0.7 Mbps! Guessing there is a problem on the high site tonight....

Has anyone else been experiencing similar issues? I'm connected to the Northcliff high site.

Can you add some traceroutes local + international.

We fine here in Claremont.

I've also been meaning to create a thread about this. Also have a 3Mbps account and for me the problems became worse around November.
Every day after 8pm there is a noticeable degradation of the connection (frequent buffering in video streams [xbmc/web], slower browsing, flaky dl speeds ).
It only becomes better around 1am. International speedtests during this time are always in the region of 0.5-0.7 Mbps.

This week it's become even worse. Even more buffering in streams and now even youtube is broken (buffering 360p).
Made a complaint about it in hellopeter http://hellopeter.com/amobia/complaints/abysmal-speeds-1306868 but they didn't bother to reply as of yet.

Whenever I ask to speak to a senior technician or a supervisor, he's never available.
During the holidays everything was working perfectly, so I guess this whole situation happens due to over-subscription and/or bad network management, not that they'd ever admit it.

Well I logged a support ticket yesterday and they did make some changes today. Initially it didn't seem to have any effect and notified them. Tonight however things are looking a bit better. Definitely not back to the quality I used to have pre Nov\Dec, but at least somewhat usable. The connection is all over the place. I did 3 speed test in a row. 0.3 Mbps, then 1.6 Mbps and then 0.7 Mbps (all local download)?

I've added some trace routes as requested.

Same problems here. I logged a ticket and they said there seems to be some international issue on their side. They are investigating.

My downloads have improved some since.

I had 3 Mbps and upwards on Friday afternoon. Sat was pretty good as well. Right now its terrible!!!

Besides what appears to be Mweb throttling as mentioned by Fulcrum29, my initial hop to jhb-nas-r1.amobia.com is slower than normal. It's reaching close to 100 ms at times.

I been moaning at Amobia since November about this - Normally I don't download much but I rather use my connection for gaming which up until November I used to get around 210ms - 230ms in Wow. Since then I'm lucky if I get 350ms. There are intermittent lag spikes which push you up to around 900ms. The only reason why I haven't switched to Bitco instead is purely their pricing.

I am on the 4 mbps line and its just been unstable since December ,now as we speak has gotten worse since last month regardless of the calls i have been making to their support.

Tonight it's a ******* disgrace. Even a 500kbps stream is buffering every 5 seconds. But what can I expect with this kind of performance: http://speedtest.ookla.com/result/2493738916.png
http://speedtest.ookla.com/result/2493754648.png

Plus they completely disappeared, not answering support tickets anymore, no updates, nothing.

Mweb throttling? Don't think so, with 16gb of usage so far this month Untitled.png.

I also stay with them because there is no reasonably priced alternative in my area. Guess it's another case of, you get what you pay for.
I suggest everyone that has had problems with them for months, to complain on hellopeter. Maybe then they might catch a wake up call.

Once again i have high latency on Amobia (this is besides the persistent 10% - 20% packet loss that never goes away - blue dots on the graph).

Ive been battling with Amobia to fix their backbone for months, I get 2000+ ping to the public server (1st hop) they managed to fix somthing last night but today its back to average of 1000 ping. I am on the PTA side backbone. your issue seems to be from you to the highsite of the ping goes up on the CPE graph. my CPE graph is low and stable but from there to public NAS its a mess...

Hows this ping for you
1.JPG
Tracerout to Google.co.za ( you can see sometimes the ping drops but its still high)

This is my CPE to the 1st tower.

wish I had all the IP's from me to the NAS so that I can pin point the IP that gives problems but they dont want to give all that info to me.
