ANC appalled by Malema hate speech ruling

Sorry Ekstasis but I am with Jamal on this one. I worked in tertiary education for a long time and most of these guys with the qualifications have their heads so far up their asses they can smell their own bad breath.

Besides that De Vos is a Douche. He is sucking up publicly for advancement.
You mean the old chip on the shoulder, "klein mannetjie sindroom", sun shining outa my @ss kinda academic?? If so, I pull my statement back! He might then just be barking carp, keeping certain ppl happy so his face can still shine on the telly!

Unfortunately it's a fair assumption that he is one of those yes.

Why is he the only one ever interviewed? There must surely be other people as clued up?

Maybe because he was like a kid in class that kept shouting out the answers the press/teachers have now given up and just ask him every time.

Let's hope this case go all the way to the Constitutional Court.

It will be a true test for our judicial system and democracy. For whites it will indicate their place in SA and if it goes against the ANC we will see if they will respect the rule of law.

What the hell has this got to do with whites and their place?

Hate speech is hate speech irrespective of colour. Or history. Or culture. Or religion.

I think with old moegoe moegoe in the drive seat we all know what the answer to this question will be. If not it would be a really welcome surprise.

I see De Vos is also pointing out some constitutional issues with how far reaching this judgement is. In fact, he suggests that parts of the equality law on which the judgement is based are likely unconstitutional. He makes the good point that as it stands no one would be allowed to for example air archive footage of the singing of the song, like the ANC may want to do at their centenary celebrations.

There isn't need for it. I would never deny history but is there a need to celebrate it all. EG. there are some sad types that celebrate Hitler's birthday. No need for it - unless someone disagrees? Has the world ended because nazism is banned in parts of the world?

The 'boers' had set up 16 December as the Day of the Vow. Somehow we managed to turn that into the Day of Reconciliation - a positive thing.

and with that you show your ignorance of our judicial system. well done.

Everything. Say the K word (IF you are white) and you lose your job. If you are Black and calling for the killing of whites - no consequence. We are looking at a different set of rules depending on your skin color.

Pretty sure you could make a case if someone sang the song now in your workplace, seeing as it's been ruled as hate speech.
