So you're saying that while its OK for ANC to criticise the Nats for
apartheid it's not ok for the DA to criticise the ruling regime for
policy blunders?

They're taking this seriously now because.....?

The only thing they're taking seriously is that Jacob Zuma is coming
and his friends are going to replace the current elite. That's
the only thing I would be worried about if I was one of the ruling
politicians right now.
 
An ANC Split with Cosatu or ANC Jacob Zuma/Mbeki split is the only hope here.
If the ANC can split at about 50% then some semblance of democracy will return to
SA.
 
The ANC needs an opposition...and a good one at that. Same as running a business...No oppisition, high prices...Bring in an opposition??...low prices...They need to be "rocked" a little.

There is a good opposition. However government doesn't take any notice of them. That's where the problem lies. They need to be accountable and debate issues in a confrontational forum (as in the UK parliament).

The current opposition is too small. Imagine adding 15 million voters to their ranks? Imagine THAT sort of opposition. Well if the Zuma and Mbeki split up, it may just become so. If enough mines close down and enough Cosatu members loose their jobs there will be more Cosatu -ANC tension and maybe
a proper split. SA needs many smaller parties instead of one giant behemoth with fleas as oppostion.

Even if the issues were debated it only makes a difference if the voters pay attention, if they don't the ANC can fools of themselves and still be voted back in, which is exactly what's happening now.

all politicians are the same...zille,zuma i dont give a damn,as long as i can go to the bar,buy smokes at a reasonable price,collect my paycheck and have a holiday once in a while

the country is expanding too quickly and there aint enough power,sucks to be us...if apartheid hadnt happened we'd have some power,but anyway im rambling on..

the country was expanding - but not "too quickly" - simply quicker than the power supply.

And if apartheid had not happened, two things at least could of happened in its place.

1) Black rule from day 1
2) joint rule from day 1

Which one of those is your Utopian ideal? Perhaps you could then expand on your opinion? It may be an interesting debate.

How on earth did you manage to read "i am glad we had Apartheid" from what I said? Please do tell.

No - you are interpreting and jumping to conclusion in a way that is meant to be taken argumentatively.

It is a simple question.
Japan has had Japanese rule from day 1, Hong Kong has had Chinese rule from 1999.
The above two statements in no way can be used to determine my feelings or political inclination in terms of Orientals.

So, let us return to your sweeping statement re: Apartheid and its affect on power. Please elaborate as to how Apartheid led to South Africa now experiencing a power shortage.

during apertheid there was not the same volume of people living in the cities and suburbs,it was a white occupied area..the blacks stayed in congested areas with no power,running water etc..after apartheid fell the masses moved to the cities and needed power etc hence the shortage..
