ANC, DA, and EFF - Two host locally, one internationally

All the major political parties promote the support of South African businesses, but when it comes to website hosting, some parties are supporting international hosts rather than local companies.

MyBroadband looked at where the prominent political parties’ websites are hosted, which revealed that the ANC and EFF’s websites are hosted locally while the DA hosts internationally.

Latency (n): the state of existing but not yet being developed or manifest

EFF members have very low latency.
 
The Democratic Alliance told MyBroadband that it unfortunately cannot comment on details regarding its website being hosted internally.

Internally or internationally?

If it was meant to be internationally, does this not adequately answer the question posed?:

“For security reasons, some of our infrastructure is hosted in a country which has stricter data protection regulations than South Africa,” the DA said.

Does anyone really gives a rats arse about whether or not a political party supports local website hosting companies and lower latency on http(s)? It's not like MyBB where people are constantly posting stuff and really need lower latency.

Who even thought that this was important enough to research? Website Hosting - critical in influencing the result of the elections.

I guess it will make a good headline.
 
This is pure nitpicking...who the hell cares where the websites are hosted?
 
If you sign up with Hetzner ZA - you can still opt for a DC choice? So the DA could be paying Hetzner in South Africa (supporting a "local" company) but their VM is spun up in Germany.
 
While we're on this topic, someone should inform the DA to fix their DNS

They're fronting www.da.org.za through Heroku DNS which provides their CDN and probably web app security - but then they have da.org.za resolves directly to their server IPs at Hetzner.

Both www.da.org.za and da.org.za should be fronted by Heroku's DNS so that anyone looking for the actual hosting endpoints will not find them - only Heroku's IPs.
 
Loads in under three seconds on my net here, so being international doesn't matter.
The CDN as above states, is probably what I am using for images etc.
Pinging the site doesn't paint the true story.

DA page has https, eff doesn't. Eff takes about the same time to load while having less stuff on it/less complex. Rather care about that.

Does Heroku have a local CND node?
