ANC members defect to DA

I've never voted for the ANC and have always opted to vote for the strongest opposition, purely because I feel that too much power in anyones hands is a dangerous thing.

I do find it amusing though, to see how people on here make such blind and silly statements. Most of the people calling the defecting members idiots probably don't even know them. It's like you've made your mind up about an individual based purely on the fact that they are ANC or in this case ex ANC members.

We really need to grow up and get past the "he's from X area, so Y is true about him" ... probably the biggest reason for wars and people killing each other (besides greed) is that people make their minds up about each other before even getting to know what that person stands for.

It's mainly the idiots who call other idiots without seeking to understand them. Like why do most people vote for the ANC?

Becuase they may or may not be idiots.

Judgement reserved untill I do understand them but until such time I will need to call them something so I will stick to calling them idiots.
 
Holy crap!...Mergan Chetty!

I know him...and his family...His dad was an ANC councillor from way back in the day. Im really surprised by his jumping ship cos the ANC was really in his blood, anyway, good for him seeing the light.
I can imagine the discussion at supper last night :)
Im also sure its cos the DA announced a 'black' guy as its nomination for PMB mayor on Friday, prving they are a non-racial party, at least here anyway.

Being part of the latter I have not problem with them joining the DA. Saying that the DA should not accept old ANC scum is a little strange. Accepting an ANC minister that has proven to be useless is one thing. But accepting relative nobodies, that were not in a position of power and influence is fine. They may have been part of the broken machine, but they were not the driver.

If the latter they're useful idiots for having joined the ANC in the first place. No dimwits who were once duped by the ANC either thanks.
 
I've done the Electoral College thing when we've interviewed new members from other parties that want to run for positions and I can happily say that they're treated in exactly the same way as any other aspirant councillor. That included an ex ANC bloke too. So this makes me happy inside.

As far as making mischief goes, it's unlikely they'd be too successful - there are too many people in too many places that want to see the DA succeed to allow it. Too many checks and balances. Hell, our MP told us once that if he ever steps out of line or does anything that is not as it should be, we need to bust him to whoever we can.
 
I remember Patricia de Lille chanting "One settler one bullet" some years back.

And some of these people calling the defectors idiots are voting for Patricia.

There are a few gifted people in tha ANC, but they are in the minority and usually low down on the food chain. If the DA can scoop them up it can only benifit the DA because they actually use their gifted people in doing something efficient.
