The white people built SA infrastructure for many years trying to make it like europe or even better , of which I applaud , thats why I said this part of Africa is for all of us . But dont look at history with a fear of retribution . Let the truth be told I am an africanist but I am no racist , whites did a great job in this country and colonisation was the best thing that happened .
BUT BUT we the consquences were harsh and I think fairness of land would be a good thing .
The inequities of many years, none of which anyone with half a brain would contest, indeed need to be seen to. BUT, and here's the problem, the inequities of decades don't get wiped out in mere years. What I see from my black countrymen at large is a yearning for quick fixes, for instant gratification. That doesn't work. As a people the 'native' Africans need to develop some self-esteem, instead of self-entitlement. I see an utter lack of WANTING, of HUNGERING for betterment - it's just so much easier to expect everything to magically right itself overnight.
With the passing of Apartheid in '94 the locals were very quick to oust any white person from every position of power and influence. Through a nepotist wave, these positions were filled with black folk not qualified to handle a mop, let alone be left to handle every last aspect of the running of a developing country. THAT is the cause of the problems we have now. Outcomes-based education. The state of the SABC. The State of Eskom. The list is endless.
It takes a degree of self-awareness to realise one is not qualified to handle a given task. It takes courage to stand up and say "you can do this better than I can, but let me learn from you." It takes utter cowardice to barge in & take over without the slightest idea of what you're doing.
The past needs to be left where it is - buried in a ditch. And the people of SA need to start realising that we're in this mess together, and we'll sink or swim... together. At present, your beloved ANC is sinking this country. I fully understand where your loyalty for the ANC comes from, but the way they're going about things, it is sorely misplaced.
