If I was Afriforum I would have approached the ANC and expressed the view that minorities are uncomfortable with Malema's behavior. Instead Afriforum have gone all out confrontational against masters of populism. I hear Afriforum have tried sitting with the youth league and one meeting ended with threats of physical harm by the YL.

You are contradicting youself. They have on several occasions tried the sit down and talk method before taking legal action. And yes, were met by threats of violence.

What will this court case achieve, will a judge declaring the song illegal make people not sing it? Come on people we need long lasting solutions and not solutions that will make the majority think that the country is being held to ransom by minorities. Can't we find another avenue to sort this issue? The song is wrong and I am in no way condoning it. In SA we have illiterate majority who will try by all means to defy the court, they try to be rebellious even for the wrong reasons.

They talked to the youth league not the anc and that meeting didn't go well for some reason. Afriforum & the youth league's behavior have been both tactless & immature so God knows a meeting between those wouldn't go too well.

Somehow I just get the feeling that the ANC thinks the whole negotiated settlement circa 1994 was a farce.

Both sides agreed to stop their nonsense and accept a workable solution for the greater good of the country, yet, where whites have accepted the demise of apartheid and made an effort to change for the better, the ANC have not. Why else would they fight so hard for the right to sing songs advocating killing whites? And don't give me that bullcrap about liberation songs, the liberation is over, they have equal rights, there isn't a context where songs like this would be acceptable any more.

Unless of course, they weren't serious about what was negotiated in the first place.

IMO this ruling will be overturned but amended. The judge went too far by stating that it may not be sung anywhere; he should have left it at public meetings and in public places.

I think that afriforum and the general public would have been happy with that. You can't tell people what to sing behind closed doors. But when something this sensitive is encouraged by a ruling party you have to wonder to what ends?

Negotiated what? It's all because of De Straggal. In fact I heard a new ad on the radio (paid for by the govt) this afternoon again specifically proclaiming it's because of songs and poems. Oh and don't forget all the many, many who died. Remember the epic wars where millions died in the heroic Straggal?

Whites know full well that the mindless hordes will sing the song. It's a matter of principle (something they clearly can't comprehend) whereby a message is conveyed that just because they're liberated and the country is now in their hands, they can't simply do as they please and infringe on others' rights.
