ANC Tech Tips?

It comes down to how it was deployed. MSI 710 is actually really good for Dell towers. The towers can handle a bit more cooling and this version of the 710 has no fan so it needs that cooling from the tower case. They are nice but you get one that has a tiny little fan with virtually no heatsink on it. Those had problems.

This is an example, not the actual product.
But those barely need any cooling anyway? They are just a way to get a second monitor, as they are actually worse then most onboards nowadays but perhaps those dell chassis suck at airflow

No, but he overpec and that is the problem. He goes for 4090s and PSUs with a 1kw power draw. That is part of the problem. He never touches a DELL or Lenovo "new out of the box" and bench it realistically.

So you're pissed at him that he doesn't deal with big box hardware specs then, its not actually anything other than the fact that he doesn't do videos that somehow match what you call "reality"?

Eh its Linus tech tips, at the end of the day his videos are entertaining and should be taken with a grain of salt, even gamer nexus makes mistakes.
All ways do proper research before you buy anything and don't use one source for your information.

That said Gamers nexus has made a mountain out of a mole hill again, they do tend to ramble way too much, even tho I have to admit that what they did with the prototype was scummy, but there is all ways two sides to the story.

I always find their videos that tad bit too long. I can't remember the last time I saw a video from them that was much less than 30 minutes.

Linus has sort of found the "right" middle ground in terms of video length for most of their things, 10 - 15 minutes.

But at the end of the day both channels are for "entertainment" and are a source of info but should not be the sole source of that information. Though the "Lab" thing from LTT could be somewhat of a game changer if they get it right.

Dude, do you understand target audiences? He is not catering to enterprise clients at all. He shows people what new hardware is capable of.

They don't do much with Dell and Lenovo because who cares? Enterprise people who should be doing their own actual research, not referencing an entertainment Youtuber's channel.

I am not angry at Linus, I am angry at what he promotes and considers an acceptable performance. Take a new Dell with 1030. Hit it with office workloads and see if it can handle it. Don't make blanket statements. Because there is always one idiot that takes his word as gospel.
If you just want video out then surely you don't need a quad 4090 setup?

Just asking in general terms with the goal of having a video signal out to display for example an excel spread sheet for a bookie at the office. Of course this is also the context of this post disregarding linus and gn.

But why would he do that? That is not his target audience and won't drive views to his videos.

He didn't make a blanket statement, he made a statement in the context of his video and review.

I'm not too surprise that you are complaining about the length of the videos; nor that you brush off gn in favor of linus. Kinda makes sense looking at your online persona.

Now I'm also quite sure in the end your are fun person, and in za style, pub and beer would always be good, right. So of course this is an observation and not a character assassination.

Oh I don't brush them off, I do watch them and some of them are good, but many of them are very wordy and longer than they actually need to be.

Quite a few mistakes are shown in that video.

Anyway, I watch LTT for the weird things they get up to, like cooling your system with your pool. None of us are likely to do that any time soon but it's entertainment.

I actually really liked that idea... one of those random things that could be done if i'm ever rich enough to actually build my own house from scratch basically.

I'll continue to watch like and subscribe, as I think it is a great channel, that makes entertaining content

LTT as intertaintment is fine. I don't see a problem with that at all. More power to the man. However for a company as big as his, mistakes shouldn't be common. Creating policy and a checklist doesn't take years. You can simply give a checklist for the reviewer. It is not that hard. Being open minded is not that hard.

Now the problem we have here is 7:30 into the video where he said it was a bad buy. Obviously it is not it actually did bloody well. And remember the reason why we didn't get Radion cards is because people WANT NVIDIA for driver stibility. No one supports dirvers longer then NVIDIA.

So yes, as a gaming card, it sucks, and is a bad buy....

JFC, context is something that exists

why did I read that as "ANC" tech tips , was confused AF before I opened the thread.
Because that's what it says. You have successfully passed the reading portion of this test.

I think you missed the 30Watts power draw. Now if you have a 100 computers do you really want them all to consume 100 Watts of power per hour for every hour for the full work day/week/month/year? It adds up very fast. Not to mention you have power the motherboard, and all the other stuff as well. At best you are looking at least 160Watts per system per day/month/year.
Is this a gaming scenario?

Gaming benchmarks is very important because it shows power draw on maximum load. All calculations must be done on maximum load. Use case is important because some computers need to be high end others don't need to be. For example if I have an office full of 4090s. Imagine the impact it will have on your office infrastucture. The size of your generator, the size of your UPSs. All that comes together very fast. Not to mentin extra cost like airconditioning in summer. If you have a 100 space heaters each consuming 300Watts per hour for just being on that is a hell of alot of heat to get out of the building. Not to mention Eskom shtting itself every step of the way.

That is why I say, 160watts is more or less the maximum you want to spend on a system per system.
But also no.

The use cases you described earlier (Excel users) will never be at full load, so it's irrelevant.

You also are highly unlikely to ever outfit a bunch of users with 4090s, so again, irrelevant. And if you are going to, you watch the 4090 review or look at specs, or test one yourself to determine draw. You do your due diligence, not take the work of a Youtuber.

And if you are in the position to be outfitting an entire business unit with high-end hardware like 4090s, you have a far better idea of use cases, requirements and so forth and plan the entire solution around said requirements.

None of this applies to the gaming review of a terrible product which doesn't fit any of these scenarios. I think you have misplaced upset regarding your client and are attributing it to LTT instead of your customer and your own handling of the "upgrade". But that's just me.

Watched the video. Nothing that he said about the card was wrong; from a gaming perspective.
Also, not all 1030's are created equal.
I would say that he should've reviewed both versions and show everyone how sh*tty Nvidia really is.
