I'm also against the idea because the Cape Party ultimately seem to want the independence of the "Western Cape" province, which to me has no historic grounding so is an unacceptable request.

I think what you are trying to say is that a precedent has to be set. There's a first time for everything, but it isn't a good enough reason to dismiss the idea.

The borders of the Western Cape, do NOT match any borders of the ex-Cape Colony, therefore the request to have the Western Cape gain its independence has NO basis in historic fact, if anything the borders they CURRENTLY enjoy are thanks entirely to the party that currently "runs" this country, the ANC.

Its a simple concept, I'm somewhat surprised that you seem to have difficulty grasping it.
 
Lycanthrope, thanks for the kind words bru. We are actually living this campaign, that is to say, its not just something that exists on the net, we have people very dedicated to spreading and achieving this down here, just check the facebook group for some pics.

And we're not just in the suburbs, we're in the poorer areas as well, like Mtchell's Plain and Alexandria etc. It means so much to us that we invest all of our spare time into it, some of us do it full time.

Also, I dont really believe the Bunny is here for debate, but rather to argue every angle possible, which is fine, but id rather use this thread to communicate with like minded ppl here, not try convince the un- convincible to join the idea... Il leave that for someone else from the CP to do, someone who can speak directly for them.

id rather use this thread to discuss ways in which those who would like to can get on board, no matter how small.

Get with the programme china, the WC will NEVER get independence, and should the issue actually raise its stupid head for real in this country, you can expect ALOT of people to fight for it not to happen, and I'll be one of them... The Cape is part of this country, if you don't like that fact, go somewhere else if you don't want to be in South Africa anymore.
 
Toxic, why are we still on the border topic, many ppl have already given you proof through historical maps that the WC can and should be the border, (just look at previous posts,) as well as that thats what the CP wants and so I dont see your constant attempt to derail communication by beating on and on about the borders... We're trying to get Independence for the WC, not all the Cape's, Historically it wouldnt make sense...

ToxicBunny has been trying to debate the entire time... it's YOU who keeps avoiding debates. Instead you post ridiculous unfactual BS comments about how everyone is talking, and how Koeberg will belong to the Cape. etc... etc...

How do you expect to drum up support if you post BS the whole time?

My first post in this thread, haven't really read the previous 20 pages and don't plan to but your comment is ludicrous...how can you separate the Western Cape but "not all the Capes"?

Asking for independence is asking for trouble...what do you think the rest of the country will have to say if this whole thing about the WC becoming independent from the rest of the country...people will riot.

Which ideals are frightening? You mean like how we want to protect democracy by not having COSATU, ANC and SACP run the show, abolish BEE and racism properly, get rid of political intimidation etc?
 
OK, you might have answered this earlier in the thread but what exactly is the definition of independence?

A separate (mini) country or what?
