Which Pro Canon lobby? The SA one or the international community? AFAIK the international community doesnt have to deal with a Canon that, imo moronically, closes for nearly a month for xmas/new year.
Oh, believe me, Canon are slow the world over for repairs!
Estimated time to repair buggered CF slot pins, a week.
Total time to get the camera back - 4 weeks!
BTW, word of warning, altho you've probably heard it already, NEVER buy memory cards from eBay. An estimated 60 percent are (very convincing) knock-off copies.
A knock-off £15 card cost me £150 repairs on my GF's camera.
Scary thing is, it was only when we took the card out of the camera, moved it to another and put it back in again we realised ...
Bent the bloody pins deep inside the CF slot. The holes on the knock-off card were round, instead of square, plus obviously not aligned exactly right.
Even a good look at the card, you'd never know, but if you compare it to the real thing, it becomes totally obvious.
I also bent a pin on my 350D, which, thank God, was obviously not required, otherwise it would've been £300 - pretty much the cost of a new 350D (body only)!
Lesson learnt.
