No - he is a racist, and using his platform to get away with uttering racist remarks. Two wrongs don't make a right. A white person uttering any sort of remark like that will lose their job and be raked over the coals in a very public way.

No, he criticized Zille (no way you can't read it like that, since the form of the tweet is exactly the same) by using an offensive and absurd example to make a point. And you're falling in his trap.

Now, of course the dude could get convicted for this - which makes it an incredibly risky tactic. He has no sympathy from me.

Uh, no it isn't. It's a perfectly acceptable use of logic. A straw man is a logical fallacy. This isn't a straw man, as the logic behind the rationalisation is what is being attacked and shown to be faulty.
