Android 3.0 - let the tablet wars begin

Honeycomb is absolutely fantastic! Would even like it on my notebook.

in an age where everything is pretty much a slab with a touch screen, only the OS really matters. And Honey will pwn. God knows what billion dollar turd M$ will crap out.

Well until these things launch iPad is still king of the hill. And when they do they will compete with iPad 2. But good luck to them. I'm happy to see more players in this space.

One of the things that Google appears to be doing with Android 3.0 is to integrate its own applications, such as GMail, Docs and eBooks directly into the operating system, rather than having them feel like third party add-ons.

How long before they get sued under the antitrust laws?

Its open source.

Ok maybe not antitrust but MS was ordered in the EU not to distribute win7 with IE integrated into the OS.

In January 2009, the European Commission announced it would investigate the bundling of Internet Explorer with Windows operating systems from Microsoft, saying "Microsoft's tying of Internet Explorer to the Windows operating system harms competition between web browsers, undermines product innovation and ultimately reduces consumer choice."[24][25] In response, Microsoft announced that it would not bundle Internet Explorer with Windows 7 E, the version of Windows 7 to be sold in Europe.

So if 3.0 is tablet only, what is the next phone version after 2.3?

I suspect a tweaked 3.0 will bring back phone support, since only major change between the two would be the screen size.

full-width on-screen horizontal keyboard
Huh? So what the heck did you call the keyboard you had in the previous Android versions?

Or did the tablets only get some abortion of a keyboard?

You got to be kidding. iOS rules! How many fragmentations of honeycomb are we gonna see?

You think?

Android = Google + Open source
iOS = Apple + Closed source

Fragmentation? Root it - no more fragmentation.

No competition in my book.
