Android App requests / Looking for an app that does X - thread

Been thinking... is there a proper replacement for Google Contacts?

And I don't mean, an app that replaces my dialer and phone book, but just backs up my contacts... i essentially want to add the contacts via my normal phone/contacts app on the phone, but want to choose a different account for backup of my contacts than my google account.... is there such a thing?

The only stuff I can find is stuff that tries to replace the contacts/phone app completely, and I don't want that.

Haven't tried running both at the same time, but I used to use FullContact. I've also linked in some others below which you can check out.

Fullcontact is a bit like True caller but from a business/positive sense, ie it gives you more accurate contact info and more in depth, cloud/hive sourced?

Installed FullContact. Useless, not what I want. At all. Trying My Contacts next.
What is Fullcontact supposed to do?

Let us know when you find an app that will do what you want, I'd also find an app like that handy.

Installed My Contacts.... nope, came close, but the sync is terrible and the phone app and web app is just written terrible bad.
/uninstalled

Not even going to do True Contacts... the preview pictures are bad enough to put me off and:
"True contacts application is contacts application taken from Android source ICS version for Android 4, Android 5.0.1 version for Android 5.0 and 5.1.0 version for Android 5.1. If you want to taste real Android try this true contacts applicaton."
TOPKEK no thanks.

Fukkcontact does what its supposed to do... but doesn't want what I want it to do...

Again, short description of what I need:
I need an app which is really just an account which I can sync contacts to. And not google. Bonus if it has a web interface for managing contacts.
it's basically the My Contacts app, but something that actually works and isn't a dog's breakfast would be nice.

So your options there are pretty limited to FullContacts, which you seem to hate, and Google contacts.
Why not move your email accounts to Gmail or Google apps if you're already deeply integrated into Android?

/facepalm

i'm trying to move away from Google Contacts with my query

I've just had some issues where I'll send, for example, Old Mutual an email, and then the email address shows up as a contact in my address book... wot, bugger off

Anyways.... looks like I'll be sticking with Google Contacts and just try to fix the issues I've had.

So you want to move away, but still stay with Google Contacts?
Anyway... maybe you should just look at disabling that functionality as opposed to looking for an entirely different solution?

The idea was not to stay with Google Contacts at all.... the contacts should've been syncing with a different account, not my Gmail account.

Then here are your best options.

IOPS solution will stop that from happening.

BUT, i want to use my phones default dialer and phonebook app. I don't understand how you don't understand this LOL

Then, as far as I understand, the only way to do that is to add another Gmail/ Google apps account. Which you don't want to do.
So there's no real solution there.
