Android Call-Recording Problem

Purchase devices in a country where Draconian privacy laws are not applicable. You can have those devices with pie and full functionality.

Should have mentioned, the OP also posted the same question in another thread where he mentioned it was for his company. But, even if you buy a device for R10k+ or even R20k+ as a private individual, it is crazy to go and root that device. Just too much to lose. Still these smartphones were dumbed down by Android and none of them worth the value they are sold at.

Just to add that insurance won't pay for damages if investigation leads to any suspicion that breach of securuty was caused by using rooted phones.
 
So Xiaomi is starting to put the stock Android dialler on some of their global version devices. I have yet to identify why this is. The stock dialler does not support call recording and the Miui dialler cannot be side loaded via an APK.

So far, I have seen that the Mi 9T Pro and the Redmi Note 8 come stock with stock Android dialler. The Mi 9T with the midrange chipset still has the Miui dialler on.

My tip, if you are buying a Xiaomi and need call recording ability, is to watch YouTube unboxings and reviews of the handset you intend buying. A blue dialler icon on the home screen is stock Android. A green dialler is the Miui dialler.

Apparently the Google Phone app supports call recording on some phones and in some markets. I think India is one of the markets where it is enabled.
