Android data usage VS Blackberry (BIS)

RBM200 ? Only problem is then you stuck with one of their phones? :erm:

Well, the RBM HD is just this phone with a red bull back cover.
or you can get The motorola Defy

Mid to high range phones. I'm planning on getting the RBM HD since it's pretty much on par with the HTC Desire(My dad has one and it scores lower on Quadrant standard than the RBM HD).
Oh, and the RBM HD has stock android. I hate these rebrands most manufacturers put on android.

this isnt sounding good.... I dont use my phone a lot for internet. I use bbm to chat, which I will replace with whatsapp, and I sync my gmail account. the odd browsing but nothing else really.

a 300MB bundle is like how many hundred rand a month??? :erm:

In that case you wont need such a large bundle. Maybe a 100MB bundle would be more than enough.
You can easily monitor your usage with an app like 3G Watchdog which places a widget on the Android homescreen, and use that to judge what you'll need in future.
You can also get the Opera Mobile browser and turn on Opera turbo to save bandwidth.

how does mtn data bundle prices compare with cell c? and do these bundles expire after one month? price for...say a 500mb bundle

anyone here using android on cell c 2 or 5 gig per month special?
can that special be loaded obto a contract?

Not me but there are others. I don't think it can be loaded onto a contract but you can use the sim in your phone and buy prepaid airtime. There might be a way to get your contract number on there somehow but not sure.

Number porting is possible on the data sim.

But it can't be added onto a contact afaik.

I'm using the 5gb sim in my phone and buying prepaid airtime for calls.

i would like to get the 2 gig one. im waiting for the se arc. will port my ex mtn no(which expires in 2 months) to the data sim. i think the 2 gig offer is only R1000 without the modem, not the usuak R1500. the only thing is cell c has very few android phones. my local store has only the sgs!

I use around 100MB to 150 MB a month on Samsung Galaxy. This includes primary non work email account, whats app on a daily basis sending pictures a few times a week, and then just normal browsing when not at work or home, occasionally I watch youtube video's and download an app or two.

If I know that what I am going to do is going to be data intensive then I wait until I am in a wifi hot spot or until I can get home to wifi.

I reckon you should be in around about the same usage band as myself, we seem to have similar usage for that all important data!

600mb seems to be the general figure. I also use that much. Sure, BIS is only R60 but how much data value do you (realistically) get out of it? Using WiFi allot though as well (both office and home),

You actually use allot, but when I had my BB I never used wifi, so everything was just 3G. BB will be popular till we have cheaper data prices. Just to bad their phones aren't that good if you compare it to an android of the same price, though I must admit that I miss my qwerty keyboard.

I fly through data on my Galaxy S but thats only because its so much better than Blackberry when it comes to surfing.

Another fact that people are quick to forget. The webkit browser is nice and all when compared to the BB5 and BB4 browsers, but simply can not stand up to the likes of Android and iOS. At this point in time i would dare say that Android is leading in terms of mobile browsing.
