Hi all

Looking to purchase 1 for each TV in our home.

Please recommend some good brands that are also reasonable priced.

TIA

Got a friend also looking for a media box like this but want to check, does DSTV and Supersport apps work on it? They have smart card details etc so just want to check if the apps work.

That's the point - DSTv Now and Netflix work 100% on the Mi Box.

mi box only has one usb port, how do you guys deal with 2 or 3 hard drives with series on it for KODI, plus having a wireless keyboard plugged in?

you would need a powered usb hub to power 2 hdds plus wireless keyboard. If you switch of the box on the remote will the hdd's power off?

No the hdd will keep on spinning if it has a separate power supply. What I did is to build a usb multiple (5x) 5v psu that is relay switched via a four button RF remote. This powers the Mibox via one outlet and the hdd via another. I then switch off the hdd after the Mibox.

You can buy multiple outlet usb psu boxes (such as the range of Orico 5 port Desktop Chargers) but I could not find one that switches each output individually.

I usually eject the hdd from the Mibox before the switch off. In addition I remember reading in one of the Seagate hdd datasheets that the hdd life is shortened if it switches off via an emergency power-loss retract instead of a software induced power-down (*)

(*) From the datasheet for the Seagate ST2000LM007 2TB Notebook Drive on page 16 under Reliability:
Load/Unload (U/UL) 25°C, 50% relative humidity
600,000 software-controlled power on/off cycles
20,000 hard power on/off cycles

I'm looking for a good 4K Android media player. I'm currently using the Xtreamer Pro that's now having problems reading some MKV files. I bought an 4K Hisense TV and it does play all files including Webm 4k files from youtube through the USB ports. But I preferred to use an external media player for this function. I'm not worried about any streaming. Just to play all my movies and series stuff. Any suggestions please.

google the H96 boxes, I have two of them (pro + versions) running Android 7.1.1 and Kodi.
