Hi Guys not sure if buying one is a sound business decission, what should I do? looking at Acer Iconica A501 3G enabled.

business decission?
Its like buying a PS3 for budgets, spreadsheets and board meetings

LOL, Main reason i'm looking at it is for the ability to do quotes and email more comfortable when out the office being a one man band, im on the road quiet a bit.

Depends on what you want it for. What will be it's purpose? My girlfriend got the Samsung 10.1 and it's really nice, but she hardly ever uses it - the horse takes preference. Of the 500MB bundle I think she probably uses 20MB a month.

Your question is very vague.

My biggest concern is that it will end up sitting in my drawer. So ja could purchase a laptop to do the same but, it's not as portable, I just feel like i'm trying to convice myself its a good thing.

Have you ever thought of all the other things that one typically does on a tablet ?

For example, it is great for reading the newspapers, I don't buy paper newspapers any more. Also great for magazines and books.

Browsing is as good as on a notebook, and there are various apps that you can use to organise your life.

You can also use it as a GPS (nice big map screen), or play music, or watch movies.

And much more ...

You can even play Angry Birds !

Sorry meant email and quotes not invoices, i use pastel for that, mabe remote admin is a posibility.

Pastel don't run on Android. Not even normal Linux...not even under wine.
Seems that Dell Inspiron Duo Tablet will suit you more it has Windows 7 Home Premium with a hardware flippable keyboard and a 3NBD onsite warranty but still the convenience of tablet for when you need it only to e-read ect.

If you can wait a little and need portable windows in your pocket, remember that windows 8 is already in beta. A big feature is that it'll have ARM CPU support (CPU's used in tablets and smartphones of today). Which means you'll see it roll out on tables just as thin and good looking as the fleet of Android tablets.

Why not get an Android phone then rather? It can do everything the tablet does but is much smaller and more comfortable to take with you everywhere. (Fits in a pocket whereas a tablet is an extra device to carry around). Batteries also last longer. Also the screen will look better close up (pixel density is MUCH higher on a phone than a tablet). Oh and you definitely get a better camera, if that matters.

I use mine a lot for work but then I have a ASUS Eee Transformer with Keyboard dock so you can say its a netbook with 16 hours of contentions use.

With Ssh and remote desktop applications be it Citrix receiver or Splashtop remote that allow me to connect to either my desktop at home or the Citrix server at work. The fact that it allows for mouse input either by touch pad on the dock or USB mouse makes it very comfortable when working on mouse driven UI's.

I do use the build in email but if you running Exchange there is applications like Moxier or Touchdown that can helps you take your office with you.

Services like Box using the Android application also helps me sync my documents with the ones at the office. If you want to edit documents there is office applications like Quick Office or in the ASUS case Polaris office that is pre-installed, worse case you can use Google Docs

Is it a toy, yes if you want to install games on it you can. Is it limited to games and reading, I would go with a solid no.

Why use it instead of a laptop, 1 battery life, there is not a single laptop that can be used for 2 days without needing to visit Eskom. Unlike laptops sleep mode or hibernate my tablet is always on, reducing time needed to just quickly check something.

How would you print from the tablet? I guess if you use Google Docs, you'd just open the doc up on a PC and print.

Splashtop remote that allow me to connect to either my desktop at home or the Citrix server at work.

I have a home automation project going, i need an app that will allow me to dial into my network at home and i must be able to access the web service, using the remote browser, on all the power sockets and motors. Is splashtop remote the app im looking for?

Splashtop is just a server + client based remote desktop app. The reason I use that instead of windows remote desktop is that it allows for streaming of video and sound so I will be able to even play a game using remote desktop feature, well I played torchlight and even movies using the ap.

So using above I guess this is not what you looking for.

For simple remote desktop using apps like https://market.android.com/details?id=com.wyse.pocketcloudfree would be better, and cheaper. If you into home automation Android@home (still in development) is something you should maybe look into
