I'm thinking of buying this tablet:

What do u guys thnk of the specs?
Also would I be able to load Honeycomb on it ?
Should I buy it no or wait till Honeycomb is freely available?

Resistive touch-screen. hmm.. frankly it looks like a piece of crap.
 
thanks guys price was R2100 so yeah it's cheap. Other option is Archos 101 for R3 800
 
Make? don't buy these Chinese crap, they are much much worse then they look
 
dunno the make- prolly Chinese. What do u suggest I get? Definitely do not want ipad/Galaxy tab.
Also needs to be sub R4 000

I was travelling for a very long time last year so I got a similar one. Used it as an ebook reader while on the road, and when in internet cafe's used to update facebook and send mails. Worked fine for what I needed at that stage. It certainly isn't a iPad killer or anything like that but I didn't want to take very expensive equipment with me on the road so picked up a cheap one and an extra Acer netbook because I didn't trust this thing to last. Well it did, I still have it it still works the same as the day I got it.
 
Thanks I will need it mainly for browsing (daily), reading (now and then) and movies (regualrly).
Think I may wait for one that is compatible with honeycomb
 
Besides the way overpriced Galaxy Tab, they're just plain crap. You get what you pay for, usually you get even less..

Wait a bit, hopefully the LG and Motorola tablets arrive here at decent prices.

The Archos 101 seems kinda ok specs-wise, but it's still cheaply built with a low quality screen.
The Nook Color is apparently good quality and has an excellent screen, you can install Honeycomb on it (unofficially). You'll have to import it yourself or get ripped off by the local importers if you want one.

Ive actually been researching these for the past few days as well... You can get something alot better than that for R2100 you could get something with a capasitive screen etc...

I also really want one but im not in a rush so im going to wait a little bit too, the original firmware on these devices had a few problems but seemed to have been fixed now from the later comments.. Linky: http://www.brandsdragon.com/products/product_29734.htm

My main usage for the device would be the odd movie and web browsing with maybe a little bit of music... The 10" screen is too big for me and the 7" is too small but the 8" fits right in the middle and is a nice size.

Just so you know the tablet that that person is selling to you for R2100 can be purchased by yourself with DHL shipping (fast and safest) for R1500 so they are making R600 out of you : http://www.brandsdragon.com/products/product_24019.htm , link to the exact same tablet :)

Let me know via PM if you do get one im interested to know how they run, the main reason i wouldnt do that one is because it cant handle flash 10.1.

That nook color maddmatt speaks of also looks pretty cool and for $250 its not a bad price, but i would wait around a bit to see what comes out :)

wow Freaksta thanks. I see they can ship for R1500 but what about the imort duties- won't they work out to more than R600?
Also, have you bought from them before? What about the guarentee?

Highly dought you will pay R600 customes on a R1100 item? Havent looked at the import duties i know it will be VAT(R150) + something(if anything...)

I own a Viewsonic G Tablet and I'm quite happy with it. Don't have full market access, but I've got plenty of other "markets" to go to. It also has the req specs for Honeycomb. Paid R4000 for it.
 
Just ordered a 7" tablet for R1000, will get it next week. Will do a mini review and post back in this thread!
 
Yea i saw the Archos while I was in Ireland it was really cool but they didn't even have any in stock,I also saw the samsung galaxy but for the price it wasn't worth it
 
Freaksta it would be interesting to see what you think about that cheapie.
